IB Gene Lattler drifted back into a tie for the top spot while guns wheeled into position for a shot at the $52.000 first prize Friday the second round of Jackie rich Inverrary Classic. LIttler, the 41-year-old first round leader with a 65, could manage only a routine 73 but remained in a four-way tie at 138, six-under-par after two rounds over the Inverrary Golf Club Course. He was tied with non-winner John Schlee, tow sophomore Buddy Allin and Dick Lotz, on the rebound from a poor season last year. Sdilee, in his seventh year on the tour, had a 69, and Lotz rallied for a 68 after going on his first four holes.

The slightly built, freckle-faced Allin bad the best Wayne Wrestlers Favared Oiadron Wayne will be favored to repeat as champion in the Nebraska Col ege Conference Wrestling Tournament here Saturday. Chadron, Kearney and Peru, however, are expected to have enough strength to keep the Wildcats from scoring a runaway. Chadron may have the best chance of unseating the Wayne team. The Eagles have a 164-1 dual record and feature a number of standouts, including Bob Lynch, 158-pounder who has a perfect 23-0-0 record this season and has had only two points scored against him. Wayne has a 7-6 dual record against nigged competition.

The headliner is Ken Monroe, who is 15-0-1 this year and was an NAA national champion and runnerup, respectively, the past two years. He will wrestle at either 167 or 177. Kearney has a 7-5-1 dual record. The 134- pound entry. Chuck Ushio, has an 11-1 record.

Peru will make its first appearance in the conference meet. The Bobcats have a dual mark. Their leader is Ken Boettcher, 142, who is 11-0. Among a large group seven strokes off the pace at 149 was Jim Shade of Norfolk, with a six-over-par 78 Friday. round of the warm and sunny day, a 66.

But most of the excitement was generated by the moves made by Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino, all of whom vaulted into contention after first rounds ranging from so-so by Player to a horrible 76 by Trevino. Player and Nicklaus were tied at 141, pist three strokes off the pace in this richest event on the pro schedule this year. Palmer was one sitroke further back and Trevino one more. Trevino had a 67, Palmer and Nicklaus 68 and Player 09. played very Trevino said of his relatively poor season.

Lotz, who won two titles and more than $100,000 in 1970 before losing his exempt status with a poor season last year, Wrdied sev-en of his last 12 holes and needed only 16 putts on those 12.

Schlee, a lanky 6-foot-3 bogeyed two holes when he missed the green, made four birdies after hitting irons inside of six feet, and got another when he canned a 20-foot downhill putt on the ninth. Allin, a 27-year-old former artiHery lieatenant who was decorated four times for service in Vietnam, had a very consistent round. He have a bogey, twice saived par frcm traps and bagged six birds, three of them on putts in the foot range. Seven more players were just two strokes off the lead at 140. They included Tony Jacklin of Eiigland, Doug Sanders, Fred Marti, Rod Funseth, Mac McLeodon, Rod Funseth and veteran Art Wall.
