The witnesses were the widow of the deceased and Deputy Sheriff Rasmussen. They gave facts as related in Wednesday Courier. Tbe jury after hearing the evidence returned the following verdict: That F. Jensen died from a pistol shot self inflicted with suicidal intent The widow of the suicide is prostrated over the sad affair. The funeral took place thi afternoon at 2 oclock from the F.

Many Lives Imperiled In Cincinnati Fire (Special to Courier.) CINCINNATI, Oct. 29. Fire started on the fourth floor of the Ne-ive building this afternoon while about sixty women were in the building; many were at the Windows preparing to leap but the crowds urged them not to jump. A fireman fell from the third floor and wag removed to the hospital seriously hurt.

The Petaluma Rebekahs met Wednesday night and after the meeting a social time wag enjoyed. Games and refreshments were enjoyed. Two leaders were chosen and each will have sides.

The plaintiff elaims that his brother and sister unduly influenced the father Iu the making of the will. Call. An unknown man made a bold attack on two young girls Wednesday night in Santo Rosa. Owing to then lusty screams he was frightened away and no barm resulted beyond giving them a bad scare. One girl says she believes he attempted to put a chloroformed handkerchief over her face.

Miss Staple, who is a sister of Mrs. Dell White, well known here, and girl friend, were the victims of the attack. They say they first noticed man loitering on the sidewalk, while another man was a short distance away, standing in the shadow of some trees. As they passed the first man he suddenly grabbed Miss Staple with both hands about tbe face. In one hand he had a white handkerchief.

Miss Staple screamed and struggled and finally managed to free herself from bis grasp. Owing to their fright the girls could only give a meagre description of their assailants. Tbe affair happened near the Dell White residence. Press Democrat. JOURNALISTS IN TOWN.

and Mrs. Rogers of this city returned from the convention this morning. The next meeting of the association will be held in Sebastopol in the spring. In the fall the association will meet at Cotati. Cota-tt is the youngest church in the association, having been built only a year.

At the meeting W. C. Oay of Sonoma was elected moderator and Ira B. Hamilton of Sebastopol, scribe. A resolution of moral appreciation was passed for the, effort being made toward the prosecution of graft San Francisco.

The basket ball game Wednesday at the Young Mens Club in which the High School played the Club resulted in a rvictorv for the High School I.y 26 to 10. NEXT MM There will be a meeting of the Petaluma Egg Exchange members at the Recorders office in the city next Saturday, October 31st at 11 oclock. At the meeting the by-laws will be adopted. STEAM ROAD INTO LAKE COUNTY.

(From parties who have been visiting in Lake county, it is learned that there has been an agent of the Southern Pacific in that county for the past few months making arrangements to build a steam railroad into that county in the near future. This agent says that if the road bonds can bo sold at once the road will be built soon and that trains will be running in by the first of next July. It is the scheme to have the road branch off from the Northwestern' Pacific at Pieta, run In by way of Highland Springs, Kelseyiville and Lakepoit, then up through Scott valley and on out to Uklah, where it will meet the Northwestern Pacific again. The road wants the bonds sold in Lake county in order to popularize the project. There have been a number of surveys over these routes and the poeple of Lake county are hopeful 'Of getting road into their county now.

Grading work on the Green Brae-Corte Madera cutoff Is rapidly getting under way and before long the force of men will be greatly increased. O11 the Corte Madera end the main tracks have been thrown several feet westerly and lowerd and a switch for the cutoff put in. Several hundred feet of track hag been laid. This will be increased as the grading pre-I gresses. On the Green Brae end graders are at work cutting through the southeasterly end of Richardson Island.
