1 PAGE 16 SATURDAY JULY 11 1964 GUAM DAILY ENEWS r- I WORLD McDermott Due Here Tuesday Edward A McDermott director of the Office of Emergency will spend three days here next week checking on disaster projects the Governor's Office announced yesterday McDermott will arrive Tuesday night from Manila and will leave Guam for Honolulu Friday night He will speak at noon Wednesday to a general membership meeting of the Chamber of Commerce at the Surf Club He will be the guest of Mrs Manuel Guerrero in Government House during his stay Woman Admits Embezzlement Is Probationed Maria Torres Chargualaf 39-year-old postmistress at the Mexizo post office substation pleaded guilty in District Court yesterday to a charge of embezzling $2 16077 She was given a suspended three-year jail sentence and was placed on probation for three years on condition that she make full restitution within one year The court also said that it will consider a motion to terminate the probation after one year provided she meets all required conditions Maria was accused of embezzling $216077 froi the post office money from pril 15 1963 to April 25 1964 She had reported to lice that she was robbed of 358 in cash at gunpoint last April 26 while working late at night in the post office located In an annex to her residence in Merizo -She described the robber to police as male short and slender and wearing a gray raincoat with a hood over his head She also told police she was alone working on her report and had taken the money from the safe when the robbery occurred Police said the robber got away BUI the photographers are here to get some polka pictures!"
