system of the Home Telephone company and Whereas the consolidation must be authorized by the municipal authorities of the city of Oakland and the city and county of San Francisco and 'Whereas it Is well known that the toll for telephone service between San Francisco and Oakland Alameda and Berkeley Is excessive: now therefore he it Resolved that this club put itself on record as favoring the public ownership of the telephone business in this city and in the city and' county of San Francisco and he it further Resolved that Ini the event that it is found impracticable at this time to provide for a municipally owned-telephone service that 'This club urge upon the authorities of this city and city and county of San Francisco to withhold consent to the proposed -consolidation of the Pacific St'afea Telephone and Telegraph company -and the Home Telephone company until arrangements are ma4e to guarantee that at all times the toll between San Francisco and Oakland Alameda or Berkeley will be upon the same basis as the present rate within the city of Oakland and be it further "Resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to each of the commissioners of the cities of Oakland and Berkeley end to the board of supervisors of the city and county of San Francisco and to the Chambers of Commerce of the above named cities WANT NO CHARGES IN TAX METHODS Although no
