building which will have approximately nine acres of floor space This is the achievement of one mercantile establishment in Los Angeles It is a story that has many parallels for Los Angeles and Its institutions have grown from small beginnings to greatness Increase Is Dazzling The staff of the Robinson company today is 110 times larger than it was on the day the store was opened and in the same period the population of Los Angeles has grown from approximately 11000 inhabitants to a city of 550000 people The growth and development of the Robinson store has made it necessary for the management twice to seek larger quarters and now a third removal is planned About three years after the little store was opened at Spring and Temple the growth of the business caused Mr Robinson to determine to enlarge his store and a lease was secured on 40 feet of frontage in the Jones block at 171 and 173 North Spring street The store was more than twice as large as the original establishment which was 20
