today Called to mass meeting by three leaders 4000 men left the hall five minutes after the meeting had been called to order Failure of John Grunau chief of the Chicago -association to appear caused the bolt About six hundred men remained in the hall The boltera remained in the street to jeer those who desired to return to work Murphy and Shannon Jones who called the meeting anticipated followers SOCIETY AIDS MAN WITH HOSPITAL BALL At a session of the board of managers of the Ponca City Humane Society yesterday it was voted that the society shall take care of whatever balance remains unpaid of the hospital bill of Hawkins the young man who was so badly injured in the Ferndale cafe explosion two weeks ago Hawkins left today for Burden Kansas with a cousin who came here to take the injured ma" hack home Th relative purchased clothes and all things else that Hawkins needed and was told that whatever hospital bill remained the Humane Society would pay The Society also voted to pay the hospital hills of Roy Ross who was criticallv ill for several weeks and of the Mexican girl who was rescued from relatives who were striving to eject a devil from her through witchery Present at understood that such authority to keep all such places clean should be placed in some person with power to act The condition of Mrs Florence Murphy of Ponca City whom the Humane Society is maintaining Kan April 21 Mr and Mrs George Shallenberger of Ponca City were visiting at the home of Mr and Mrs Meats yesterday Mr Shallenberger who is in the employ of the Marland Refining company has been transferred to new duties at Tampico Mexico where the Marland company recently acquired extensive interests Mr and Mrs Shallenberger will make their home in Tampico leaving Ponca City some time next month Some men never knew enough to let good enough alone Thut's the reason they always have more The program prepared today by Director Wallace Hannah of the Chamber of Commerce band shows there are several special numbers to be included in the band concert to be given at 8:15 on Friday evening April 30 The band organization is very fortunate in having a number of artists among its members and several of these will be on the program interspersed with the regular band numbers One special number that will meet with great favor will be the violin solo of Prof Sadlo teacher of violin at the Oklahoma State A and College who will be a resident of Ponca City and a regular member of the band following the close of the college year at Stillwater He will teach violin in Ponca City He is a violin artist of the highest standard and also an expert clarinet man having been in own band overseas Other special numbers will be a tenor solo by CharleB Hahn one of the trombone players in the
