SIXTEEN THE BRIDGEPORT POST, WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 1969. BOARD OKAYS 87 FOR POSTS Appointment of 87 educators, including 74 teachers new to the Bridgeport public school system, was approved by the Board of Education at this week's meeting. The board also accepted requests for leaves of absence, resignations and retirements from J01 school staff members. Among the 87 appointments were three elementary principals, two of whom will be assigned to the East Side "middle school" and 10 acting appointments to various posts within the school system. Named associate principals at the East Side "middle school" Charles O'Hara, an assistant principal at Maplewood school, and Michael Magut, assistant principal of Columbus school.

The other principal named was Samuel Sarkissian, who will serve at Newfreld. Mr. Sarkissian was appointed from the elementary school principal's list. All three appointments are probationary. 3 Retirees Me'ntioned The board accepted the request for retirement of 15 veteran educators and a school nurse and singled out three of the retirees for special mention.

E. Stanton Kennedy, board vice president, said that board regrets when any teacher who has served so long retires In speaking of Mrs. Florenci Lynch, principal at Columbu; school who is retiring after 3 years, Mr. Kennedy said: "Mis Lynch helped us to organize a brand new school." And of Miss Dorothy Hanley principal at Waltersville schoo with the; i schoo system 49 years, he said, are very disheartened by Miss Hanley's The board also expressed its regret in the retirement of Miss Marie D. Eagen, who is leaving after 50 years as a teacher.

McFarland, Win throp, 43 years; Kathryn Mul lins, Central high, 44 years; Jen riie Rome, Madison, 48 years; Mrs, Irene Shonda, Madison, 31 years; and Mrs. Helen Soder strom, Read, 44 years. 5 Principals Shifted Approval was given by the board on five elementary schoo principal changes. They are: Joseph Lucia to Whittier from Newfield school; Joan Killelea to Columbus from Wheeler; Mi riam Rakieten to Wheeler from Hall's Mrs.

Joanna D'Onofrio to the East Side "middle school 11 from Summerfield; and Paul Nishball to Waltersville from McKinley. The acting appointments approved by the board were Miss Katherine Brady, elementary principal at Hall school; Stanley Turski, assistant principal at Bassick high; Mrs, Helen guidance director; Mrs. Virginia Loch, assistant principal at Harding; Robert Speer, chairman of the English department at Harding; Mrs. Vivian Carter, chairman of the English department at Bassick; Michael Maiden, principal at McKinley; Raymond Kasparek, assistanl principal, at Maplewood; and Angelo Minei, assistant principal at Columbus. Math Post Open Schools Supt.

Lester S. Silver- 6tone also announced that there was an opening for acting chairman of the Math department at Central ihigh school.
