loved the Washington Redskins football team bowling and enjoyed rolling skating He attended mass at St Mary's Catholic Church in Lancaster Above all John was a great father and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren John touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends He is survived by his former wife and longtime friend Sherri missing for nearly two days in Niger has been found dead a result of a deadly ambush by dozens of Islamic extremists on a joint patrol of American and Niger forces US officials said Friday The soldier whose name has not been released was one of four US troops and four Niger soldiers killed in the attack His body was found by Niger forces on Friday near where the ambush occurred and then transferred into US custody at safer location further from the attack site US officials said his body was moved onto an American helicopter by US forces in a somber ceremony and then taken away for formal Mrs Halden was married for 65 years to Glenn Halden Jr of Lancaster an Army Master Sergeant in the Korean War and a retired account executive at Donnelley Sons in Lancaster She is also survived by a daughter Dr Judy Halden-Sullivan Professor of English at Millersville University and a son-in-law Dr Edward Sullivan Professor of Economics and Finance at Lebanon Valley College both of whom had the privilege of being with Mrs Halden at the moment of her passing In addition Mrs Halden has a brother John Morelli and a sister-in-law Judith Morelli both of Hallstead Pennsylvania and a sister Mary
