H2 Daily Breeze Torrance California Sun June 24 1984 1 4 mainstay since 1946 The tower and spa is composed of four public levels and six decks the latter including 27 super town house suites All six decks have 13000 square feet of living accommodations with one and two-bedroom town houses of varying dimensions Each suite boasts its own Jacuzzi and many of the duplexes have atriums High-speed elevators reach all floors and butler service is available to every suite The main level showcases The Cabaret an entertainment entity designed to open a new dimension in the presentation of headliner acts It is adjacent the Golden swimming pool providing a desert oasis appearance Guests are surrounded by tropical flora amidst the decorous trappings of a lush lagoon The main level also provides an additional 3000 square feet of casino space connected to the existing Golden Nugget casino The second level is designed to satisfy the palate with its 200-seat Terrace Restaurant for gourmet dining Level three contains meeting rooms banquet areas and the 500-seat Theatre Ballroom the main showroom The Spa and Health Club on the fourth level provides the latest health equipment in surroundings designed to pamper the eye as well as the body Its reception area gives the impression of an outdoor court with columns mirrored walls and decorative flora Plans for a $12 million water theme park fronting on the Las Vegas Strip have been announced by officials of Summa Corp and the founders of two similar parks in Texas and Florida The 27-acre family theme park will be built between the Sahara and El Rancho hotels and will be patterned after Wet Wild Corp operations in Orlando Fla and Arlington Tex Wet Wild is headed by George Millay who also founded San Sea World It will be the first theme park in Las Vegas and the latest in a series of family-oriented ventures in the gaming capital Construction will begin in September with opening scheduled next May Las Vegas adds hotel theme park facilities Would you believe a Las Vegas hotel sans gambling? great example is the back country of San Diego County starting with this small foothill community located just 30 miles east of San Diego on Interstate Highway 8 The picturesque town is a center for has retained its frontier spirit Complete with wooden sidewalks false front stores the interesting Julian Hotel and the nearby Julian Museum it is a page out of history Julian is famous for its fall Apple Festival as well as its annual wildflower show Returning to the junction of Highways 79 and 78 continue east on 78 down the famous Banner Grade toward the desert En route you will pass the community of Banner also a former gold-mining town As you reach Tamarisk Campground at the edge of the desert turn left on Highway S-3 which takes you on a winding trip through Yaqui Pass and down to the floor of Borrego desert A short distance further on reach the community of Borrego Springs In springtime the desert floor is apt to be carpeted with wild flowers a brilliant contrast with the
