Cardec, and Cruz M. Cotto. Claire Ruth, Of Mighty! NEW YORK (AP) Claire Ruth, who was as much a part of the New York baseball scene throughout the last 25 years as her husband, Babe, was when he was alive, has died of cancer. Mrs. Ruth, who died Monday, was 76.

Since the Babe's death in 1948, also of cancer, Mrs. Ruth was a steady contributor to the sport. Every year she appeared at the Yankees' Old Timers' Day, and the would welcome her with a standing ovation. Mrs. Ruth also carried on the Babe's memory through the Babe Ruth Baseball League for youngsters.

She kept memorabilia of her husband's accomplishments in her Manhattan apartment. "She was devoted to her husband through all these years," said Bob Fishel, an American League official and former vice president of Yankees. "Her life still revolved around his memory and his achievements. The Babe was her life when were living together and even after he died." In addition to her work in preserving the memory of one jf baseball's greatest sluggers, Mrs. Ruth was active in charitable organizations, particularly the American Cancer Society.

KMIOLEK, 52, DIES IN HIS HOME Michael W. Kmiotek, 52, of 59 Querida avenue, a one-time membef of several Bridgeport area softball teams, died last night in his home. Services i take place Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Rohm and Luchansky funeral home, 2189 Barnum avenue, Stratford, and at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's Polish National Catholic church.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's cometery, Stratford. Mr. Kmiotek, a native of Scranton, had been a City resident 36 years. He was a quality control engineer with Bridgeport Machines, 35 years, and was a member of the Quarter Century club there.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Kmiotek was a founder of the American Ukrainian Veterans of Scranton. Mr. Kmiotek was a member of the softball, golf and bowling teams at Bridgeport Machines, on the championship State and regional softball teams of the former Krozers restaurant, and the softball teams for Red Mill and Three Door restaurants.

He a so was a member of the BPOE 36. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Theadora Warholak Kmiotek; two daughters, Mrs. Nicholas Esposito of Monroe and Miss Diane Kmiotek of Bridgeport; a brother, Rudy Kmfotek of Stratford; two sisters, Mrs. Nicholas Patachnfck of Taylor, and Mrs.

He was the director of research and development for the Dentists Supply company of York, for more than 30 years. He attended Monmouth co lege, Johns Hopkins university, Columbia university and received i doctorate from the University of Chicago, in 1922.

He was a veteran of World War I serving in France with the U.S. Army's 197th Gas Regiment. He was a member and past master of the Ivanhoe Lodge, A.F. and A.M. of New York city; a 50 year member of the American Chemical society, and a 40 year member of the American Philatelic society, having written numerous articles for its publications.

Mr. Swan was past command- c. of the World War I Barracks No. 842, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fairfield, and a member of the Southport chapter of the American Association of Re- ired Persons. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.

Michael's cemetery. Born in Hartford, Miss McManus was a Bridgeport resident most of her life. She was a Central high school graduate, and attended the Booth and Bayliss business school, and the American Institute of Banking. After the merger of the bank with Connecticut National, she was appointed assistant manager of the first branch here, 1964 she was appointed assistant Vice-president, and in 1968 she was promoted to vice president of the bank.

She was a charter member nnd past president of the Quarter Century club of the Connecticut National bank, a member of the Ladies Guild of St. Augustine's church, and the Council of Catholic Women.
