of the Year" in 1982-83 have been named honorary grand marshals of the 1987 Camellia Festival Parade The honorees were selected by Bernie Keelin general chairman of the 1987 festival committee and announced at the Royalty Coronation on Feb 6 Both have given years of service to the community's young people Rosenkranz a Sierra Madre resident has taught English in the Temple City Unified School District for 20 years She is also the district and LA County "Teacher of the Year- honors bestowed in recognition of her innovative and creative teaching efforts at Temple City High School Over the past four years she and several classes of honors English students have written and published two paperback books "Kindred Spirits" and "Kindred Spirits: The Sequel" about a fictional English teacher and amateur sleuth This -Class Act" which entailed all her free time after school weekends and summer vacations earned her the highest of professional accolades and the affection and respect of her students and peers Howser 78 is a native of Parsons Kan and served in the US Navy during World War 11 Moving here in 1957 to raise his family of three girls he was on the steering committee that succeeded in winning Temple Citys incorporation three years later His involvement with the Camellia Festival spans three decades including a stint as committee general chairman in 1965 and many years chairing the band review and awards committee A past president of Temple City Lions and past vice president of Camellia Lions he served eight years as chairman of the "sight" committee which provided free vision acuity screening for hundreds of district school children Howser also drove the school bus back in the days when school district provided bus transportation Today the grandfather of six is Nicole Eggert has been named the grand marshal of the 43rd annual Temple City Camellia Festival Parade by festival general chairman Bernie Keehn Her face may be more familiar than her name to watchers of televi sion where she plays the older sister Jamie Powell on "Charles In Charge" and also is featured in a recurring role as Marci Ferguson on "Who's the Boss?" with Tony Danza But while the role of grand marshal in a parade that celebrates youth may be a new one for Eggert her career includes a wide range of dramatic and comedic performances in movies as well as on TV for the past 10 years It all started when Eggert now 15 entered and won the Petite Division of the "Miss Universe Pageant" at the ripe old age of five and a half and went on to make several television commercials Before long she'd won her first dramatic role as Cheryl Ladd's daughter in "When She Was Bad" an intense story about child abuse Other TV movies and guest appearances followed Although her acting career has gotten off to such an early and successful start she thinks education is important and plans to finish high school and go on to college Her sights are set on the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in
