tr rHITEY GLAZNER. von bril-A Ilant 12-inning duel from the Tom Boy Phillips, the Pels' big right-hander. In the morning session 4 to 3, while the Pelicans had little trouble In winning the afternoon aiugfest from the Barons, 8 to 3, at Bide wood Field Monday. The duel between Glazner and Phillips was a real pitchers' classic and was witnessed by the largest crowd that ever attended a morning game in Birmingham. The Afternoon's attendance fell short of quailing the record for a former Fourth of July battle by only a few hundred fans.

The total attendance for both games went well over the 12.000 mark. Hammerman Ellis, Bert Griffith and Whiter Glazner were the outstanding stars in the Barons morning victory. Glazner never pitched a better game In ail of his life. He was in a hole In every frame but the second and ninth, and never has a pitcher pulled out of so many treacherous mires as did the game Glazner Monday. The Pels had 14 men stranded on the bases and they simply couldnt touch Glazner when hits meant runs.

Bert Griffith robbed the Peis of a victory In the twelfth when he doubled Deberry, who had led off with a two-base whack, at the plate by a remarkable peg from deep center. It was one of the greatest thrills of the game and brought the crowd to its feet screaming and yelling. Hammerman Ellis lived up to his name and when Tom Phillips presented Ellis with the chance to win the old ball game, A1 up and did that little old thing with a mean, stinging single to left which scored Croll with the winning tally. Phillips walked Croll to start off the king battle. Stevenson crossed Ripper-ton up a third, shooting a grounder to the left of him which was too much for him to handle.

Barnhart beat out an infield hit pnd Bernsen socked the ball to deep center, Croll scoring on the sacrifice fly. Ellis singled to center and Stevenson crossed the plate, Barnhart moving over to third on Gilberts error. Griffith poked a single to right and Barnhart scored. Hairston Was hit by Phillips, filling the bases. Peters fouled out to Bradley and Giaz-i er ended the fire works by fanning.

The Barons got two on in the second, one on in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth. In the seventh the Barons made two singles, but Tom was strong as garlic and didnt flinch under the light rally. In the eighth Hairston walked but was iRpped at second. Phillips was at his best in the ninth and not a MORNING BIRMINGHAM. The afternoon game was an out and out slugging match, with the Pelicans cracking the old sphere in the pinches. Gallagher lasted three innings and left two men on when he retired in the fourth with one out for Morrison. During the time Gallagher was on the hill, the Pels found him for seven hits and three earned runs. Morrison after the fourth kept his hits well scattered. Breaks of the game kept the Barons from scoring more than three runs in the first. Ellis hit Barnhart with a batted ball that robbed the locals of at least two runs. However, the Pels hit when hits meant runs and the Baron! didn't AFTERNOON GAME. BIRMINGHAM, NEW ORLEANS. abrhoie.

Allison, student at Blackburn College, Carllnville, gets along with one. Allison lost his arm In a mine explosion, but it didnt keep him out of athletics. He has been elected captain of the college team because of his stellar playing. Bobby la an outfielder. Last season he didnt have an error chalked up against him.

He can cut off runs at the plate regularly. Heres how he does It: On catching a fly ball he flips It Into the air a few feet, throws off the glove, catches the ball and whips It back. He works so fast and accurately that he entirely offsets the few seconds lost by reason of his peculiar method of fielding. Hitting a ball In his teritory is like dropping It In a well. He chokes a bat pretty well up toward the heavy end and has a reputation of being somewhat of a long-distance hitter.

Lata season he made two home runa besides a flock of triples and two-base hits. When the Fall season of college athletics rolls round he plays football. He takes his place at guard and Is a hard man to buck. Allison Is working hit way through school and has saved $2,. 000 with which he expects to fit himself for law.
