Board of Supervisors Bradley four members of the board and city councilman Emani Bernard! met for nearly two hours at a city hall meeting this week in the first combined meeting of city and county officials ever held Bradley said the meeting was to be the first of many adding he hoped they would lead to a better understanding of problems between the city and the county supervisors hold meeting site giving the city full responsibility To arrange a meeting with the executive committee of the Southern California Association of Governments to resolve the concerns about the regional organization The transportation task force will be composed of representatives of various city and county departments Its primary responsibility will be developing an intermediate plan to go into effect within three years Supervisor Baxter Ward urged that the task force place particular emphasis on the use of -existing rail lines and study the possible condemnation of the lines He said the condemnation would not be designed to take the lines away from the railroad companies but would be an administrative action so they could be used by local government Other areas the task force Ls to explore include exclusive bus and car pool lanes on freeways and the synchronization of street lights Fairs and celebrations in Bishop Cambria Lancaster Morxigo Valley Morro Bay Norco and San Gabriel all six Black Muslims charged with 10 counts of assault and battery on six Harbor Division police officers All six of the Long Beach residents have been released from custody on $1500 bail They were arrested Monday night following a brawl in the area of Second and Palos Verdes Streets in San Pedro Eugene Avery 36 is charged with three counts of felony assault and battery on a police officer Steve Glover 23 and Alton Peterson 39 are each charged with two counts of assault and battery for setting a tax rate by local agencies It would apply to all governmental bodies as well as special taxing districts If there are changes in the financing of certain projects or there are deletions or additions a new tax rate would have to be figured out by county auditor-controller Mark Bloodgood County officials have estimated the General Fund tax rate at $38645 assessed valuation This compares with last tax rate of $40272 per $100 The reduction in the tax rate has been credited mainly to the application of ederal Revenuesharing funds for the financing of capital projects Hahn has proposed the use of an additional $6 million of the money in the same manner Los Angeles Bureau Copley News Service The final step in the county budgetary setting a tax may be delayed when the Board of Supervisors meets next Tuesday Supervisors had been scheduled to set the general fund and all special district tax rates this past Tuesday to comply with state law However under a measure awaiting the approval of Gov Ronald Reagan the county could reopen budget hearings and make additions or deletions to its $295 billion spending package for the 1973-74 fiscal year Supervisor Kenneth Hahn is reported to be considering proposing that budget hearings be reopened to allow the allocation of about $6
