7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, FOR Wednesday' Ends Season With Laughs for Valley Players By JORY SHERMAN Special to The Sun-Telegram Valley Players Guild, Cathedral City, opened with "Any Wednesday" Friday to close the season with laughter. The Broadway hit should prove a perfect capper for this desert community's final play in the fifth season. The cast of four plays well together in the intimate theater. Friday's audience took to them completely. Carol Driskell as Ellen, the naive 30 year old mistress of an older man, is enchanting when she does not overplay.

Her repertoire of funny facial expressions combines well with her sparkling delivery and uninhibited movements. As the beguiled beauty with few brains who inhabits the executive suite, yet only sees her stuffy lover Wednesday, she demonstrates a fine flair for comedy. In contrast to Miss bounciness, Wilfred Goodman, as the president of a large poration, is almost too quiet, too far off pace. He is, however, believable as the millionaire route who is almost too busy making deals to have time for a mistress. A newcomer to VPG is truly a fine actor, Jack White.
