association the Chattanooga Golf and 1Country deb has suggested July 6-10 as the most convenient date for the south' ern golf tournament which is to be held over the Chattanooga course at Riverview The proposed date has been 'voted acceptable by mostof the clubs itt: the association tand if is practically certain thatthe annual Classic will be held then The change necessitated a shift in the date of the Tennessee state tennis tournamentwhich was scheduled for Riverview- the week of -Tilly -12 It would manifestly be impracticable for the tennis tournament to be tonducted satisfactorily in the confusion of the week following the golf tournament and See retary 'Thomas 11 CarothessJr Jr of the state' association has suggeeted a poStponement to the week of July 19 which-it-is belletedwill be acceptable to the state tenaisers The golf season is already wel1 under way at 'Rieervielv end the eoursecrowded much of the time The pros-Peet of entertaining the southern tournament ham added great zest to the local sport and the tournament committee expects the season to- be by far the test sinte before the war and possibly the best the club- has ever enjoyed -Them are a lot of new players becoming proficient in the game and both the southern and state tournaments this year arenot unlikely tosee some new names-from Chattanooga among the cup winners and The ahedit1eof gnlf
