A despatch received here tMs afternoon sajd the steamer General Whitney has been sunk fifty miles east of Cape Canaveral, on the Florida coast. Twelve men, including the captain, are reported to have been drowned and fifteen are stall missing. The General Whitney left thas port for New York Tuesday.
