GEORGE KOLLAR Mrs, George Kollar. 1208 Walnut street, Freeland, died last night at ner nome after a year's illness. She was born in Jeddo, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna l(Danko) Yalch, and resided in Freeland most of her life. 1 She was a member of St. Marv's Byzantine Catholic Church, Free-land, the parish Altar and Rosary Society, and the Freeland Ameri-can Legion Post 473 Auxiliary.

She was married 55 years ago to George Kollar, who survives. Other survivors are these sons and daughters: Mrs. Andrew (Anna) Dzurisin, Roseville, Betty, Morristown. N. Michael.

(Sterling, N. Nicholas, at home; Mrs. John (Mary) Lazarskv. Free- and; Mrs. Elmer (Helen) Jones, Jernardsville, N.

In addition to nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, the following sisters and brothers survive: Mrs. Frank Rudy, George and Nicholas, all of Freeland, and Helen, McAdoo. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the McNulty Funeral Home, Freeland. Requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9 in St.

Mary's B.C. Church, Free-land. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from Sunday at 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral.

Davis collected $5,813 in taxes during 1965 for which he received $290 in commissions ac cording to his report filed at the courthouse. He took in $950 in borough taxes; $3,715 in school district taxes; $780 in county taxes; and $367 in institution district taxes. Grand total cost of collection to the four units was $304. The borough levied $1,148 in real estate taxes. Of this amount Davis collected $751, leaving $397 uncol lected.

He took in $57 in delinquent taxes. Occupations tax levy of $155 netted the borough $134 for the year plus $21.50 in prior years collections. The school district levied $4,094 and Davis took in $2,579 in taxes, leaving $1,541 uncollected. Prior years collections totaled $215. Davis also took in $500 in per capita taxes and $78 in delinquent per capita taxes.

Of the $772 levied by the county, Davis took in $404, leaving $267 uncollected. Prior years taxes totaled $37. County personal property taxes collected by Davis totaled $251. Of the $538 levied by the institution district, Davis took in $352, leaving $186 uncollected. Prior years taxes totaled $21.

CAR BURNS An automobile burned last night on Broad Mountain, shortly after midnight, according to state police. Kingston. Solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated in St.

Dougherty was one of the most widely-known coal mine owners in the anthracite field and was noted in the industry for his knowledge of mining and its related businesses. Because of his early ex perience with education, he was a large contributor to schools of higher learning.

Born in Humboldt. April 26, 1899, he was the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth O'Hara Dougherty. He received his early education in the Harwood elementary schools. At the age of 14 years he began what became a distinguished career in anthracite mining. He completed high school at night at St.

Gabriel's, Hazleton. In 1924, Mr. Dougherty was appointed the youngest mine foreman in Pennsylvania. Shortly after he assumed superintendency of the Cranberry Improvement Company, Hazleton. He became manager of Payne Coal Company, Exter, in 1939.

In 1944. he became manager of the Knox Coal Company, Exeter, from which he resigned seven months prior to the Knox disaster; of January 22, 1959. Mr. Dougherty was president of the Avon, Peeley and Bristol Mining Companies. He devised a plan to extinguish clum bank fires and had a contract with the State of Pennsylvania to carry out his method at the Baker Culm Bank, Scranton, at the time of his death.

He was a charter member of St. Alphonso's Retreat League, Toby-hanna a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus; Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and a former board member of Fox Hill Country Club. He was an honorary alumnus of Mount St. Mary's College, Em-mitsburg, Md.
