The blow completely severed the unfortunate man's nose and lip. His injuries were attended to by Dr. S. L. Rea at Langland hospital.

R. E. Saunders has been in San Francisco the last few' days purchasing stock for his electrical store. B. Onthank's Suffering Is Ended After an illness extending over a long time, during which she suffeied fereatly, Mrs. S. B. Onthank, died in Ukiah Thursday last of Bright's Disease.

Deceased was G3 years of age and was a native of Chautauqua county, Xew York. Funeral services wc-e performed by Rev. Elbert Holland and Rev. B. B.

Alex.inder, the man who swindled a large number of merchants about the country by the use of an alleged reduction in advertising rates in a railroad magazine, which did not exist, was allowed probation last week. Alexander defrauded several AVillits merchants whose lack of business judgment induced them to patronize an out-of-town publication instead uf the good local newspaper they have. BACK ON DUTY A.
