rise -tall Manager Bradley yesterday added another great card to his already attractive gallery of favorites by eigning for the local team thecelebrated pitcher and ball player Larry Corcoran It is hardly necessary to give a sketch of a character so well known Ho has too long figured as one of the great players of the age He was a long while with the Chicagos and several Reasons won for them the champlonehip of the National League Before his curves and skill the greateet batters of the country have laid down the willow and acknowledged themselves unequal to the task of solving such a delivery During the season of 188t he was forced to pitch a majority of the games in which the Chicagos played and as a consequence injured his arm and during the past two seasons retired from the diamond This season however he deeiree to try once more his skill and has written to his old friend George Bradley assuring him that he has once more regained control of his arm and will sign a contract Bradley at once telegraphed in reply accepting his terms and notifying him to report at once He said that he could have secured an engagement with one of the great clubs but did not want to subject himself to any possibility of being reserved until he bad proven his right to rank in his old position The signing of Corcoran is a great thing for Nashville and the Southern League If he should not be able to pitch in his old form be is a first-class infielder and a heavy hitter and will be especially valuable for his old head and the instruction he can give new players Larry Corcoran is now training the Amherst College nine but leaves this morning for this city MEMPHIS 5 SYRACUSE 1 MEMPHIS TENN March The attendance to-day to witness the second game between the Memphis club and the Shamrock
