the iuspectors hung up in each street-car lu bunches plaoed in shops factorits stores and public places throughout the district also punted in the city daily papers and in thts way have successfully disquninated a knowledge of what the laws of the State demand of all citizens in regard to nubile health The people seeing the great importance to complying readily consent with few exceptions to cleanse their promises and abate nuisances at their own expense? when they are responsible therefor Divers kinds that have existed for years April 10 when our Inspectors began work have been abated by the people I have also forwarded to each magistrate in the eounty copies of these publication4 feeling that they would be willing and intelligent co-operators in the public sanitation Furthermore knowing the great value to the county Board of Health of having the wike council of physicians enlisted not only in our own behalf but especially for the people I have addressed a circular letter to each doctor in the county urging them to give us their hearty support its the work of public health I he following is a statement of sanitary work done by inspectors since the date of their very ne4r the time when the evil effects resulting from stmnant pools and ponds will be materially increased There are quite a number of sueh places within the city limits some tew ere in the street raising the grade of adjacent streets and alleys Bome of the worst and most aggravated cases are in Edgelield notably near Bridge avenue and inn street and other lowlands that are from time to Jima eubject to overflow In this connection I also desire to call your attention to the condition Lick and other branches in the city that transport sewerage matter and the necessity of having them weaned out as early as ticable I would also suggest that the Board of Public Works be requestkd to have cleaned Out and abate as far as possible all pools and ponds in the streets alleys and other places east and west being IRO feet long and 100 feet wide covering an area of 16- 000 square feet There are four large poles forty feet In height that will bear the maid veleta of the huge canopy' though In this they are assisted by fourteen interma bracing poles The floor wiii be of plank and not straw or sawdust an was at first intended- This change will do a great deal to improve the acoustics of the piece Thapulpit and platform which wil be portable yid be locatit in the south aide of tbe tent as it will thereby give the voice better opportunity to be fully heard The illumination will be by four electric lights stationed properly about the tent The question of the exact seating capacity is mooted The parties from whom the tent was perch ailed claimed that it would hold 9600 people but theme figures were without doubt largely overectimated Mr Deadrick who superintended the work states that 1600 people would be about the correct number it would hold comfortably There are to be 460 wooden benches that will each seat ten or eleven persons In addition to these there will be 1 600 opera chairs If the warmth ot the weather 'create a demand for more ventilation titan is usually afforded the aidee 1 of the tent may be raised about 1 seven feet giving the wind full play Mr I Deaderick thinks everything can be gotten eady at the present rate by 'dark Mile even-log It is certain that the
