Gubernatorial situation He hes either pemonally visited every county of that section or seen delegates from the where lie had not been and had preplusil from the idle so gathered an accurate statement of the strength of the several gentlemen who are candidate for the Democratic nomination About one-half of the counties had histructed and hence their choices were patent but although it was more trouble to arrive at the sentiment of counties not instructed yet by means of information from such delegates and the candidates themselves the favorites in the uninstructed countlee were ascertained Thin gentleman knows from personal conversation with Messrs Taylor of Washington A Hendemon of Knox Thomas Williams of Knox and ThOMEIR McConnell of Hamilton that there has been for several weeks an agreeineut between theme eandidates that when the sense of the Emt Tennessee delegation is ascertained that the candidate who has the largest support from that section shall receive the support of all the other candidates A warm friend of Hon John Allison is authority for the statement that he also is a party to this agreement The record of the strength of these candidates as prepared by the gentleman referred toembraees every county of East Tennessee It shows that Bob Taylor is far in the lead of any single opponent and hm as many votee aa all the other aspirants from his section combined Under the agreement formed between Mr Taylor and his opponent it follows that they will throw their strength to him at the time they realize oar- tainly that he is in the lead which would simplify the situation with regard to the 800 votes which East Tennemee will have in the convention next month lien Dibrell appears to have twenty-five votes from East Tennessee but as he is a candidate from that section he was not of course a party to the agreement referred to The table is as follows: I The Durham Bond Cane on Car of Freight on the GALLATIN July 7--(8pecia1 (Mininal Court witnesses The court is awaiting the arrival of these witnesses on the 430 train this evening Sam Fitts the notorious character who has made several attempts on the life of Esq Chipman In the past Warner had his trousers on and had evidently gone about his bloody deed with deliberation On the window ME stood a small looking-glass between three four pistol cartridges He had apparently used the
