struck at the Logan well and the Commercial of today states that the supply will be large enough to run every manufacturing establighment in the city and supply light for 1000000 people The well was plugged seven times before the flow could be stopped When the owners of the well discovered that gas had been found the strictest secrecy was enjoined and one of the sure and certain indications of the discovery of gas is seen in the fact that a number of citizens have secured options on every foot of land that could be had in Hill City or in the vicinity of the gas well Chattanooga is completely upset by the publication this morning in the Commercial of the news tha't gas had been found at Logan's well which is located on the Suck three miles below the city on the river Boring has been going on there for three months and a depth of 935 feet was reached Friday It was discovered that day and work was abandoned After boring the well was plugged and a seventeen-ton hammer drove in the plug before it stayed The matter leaked out last night through a man who suspected something was up by numerous options being given by neighbors and he investigated The Commercial paid him 25 for the exclusive information and so got in a big scoop To-day options have been given and sold by hundreds the property mainly being in Hill City A great boom is expected Many still discredit the report
