EASTER SEAL CHAIRMAN-Karen Kopins of Ridgefleld, 1977 Miss Connecticut, will serve as Connecticut's Easter Seal chairman for the coming year, with most of her appearances stated for the 1978 fund drive next March. Miss Connecticut Easter seal queen Karen Kopins, crowned Miss Connecticut last June, will serve as the 1978 Easter Seal chairman, it was announced by Robert P. Lyman, president of the Connecticut Easter Seal society. Miss Kopins, 19, who is a freshman at Marymount college, Tarrytown, N.Y., will make several public appearances on behalf of Easter Seals during the coming year and also will take part in the making of television and radio public service announcements. Her association i Easter Seals continues a long-standing tradition in which Miss Connecticut "doubles" as an Easter Seal spokeswoman for the purpose of highlighting rehabilitation and outdoor education services.

She was introduced to Easter Seal officers, volunteers and staff members at the organization's recent annual meeting. Miss Kopins, a Ridgefield native, takes over as Easter Seal chairman from Debra LaRoche of Cheshire, who relinquished her Miss Connecticut reign in June. "1 am really looking forward to this opportunity to work with Easter Seals and do what 1 can to help Connecticut's handicapped children and adults," says Miss Kopins. Most of her appearances will be March 1-31, which is the period of the 1978 Seal campaign. The Easter Seal network in Connecticut includes seven affiliated rehabilita- tion centers and the year- round Hemlocks Outdoor Education Center in Hebron.

The rehab centers are in Bridgeport, New Haven, Hartford, Stamford, Uncasville, Meriden and Waterbury. Miss Kopins, a graduate of Ridgefield High school, is studying for a liberal arts degree with emphasis on dance. She already has had ballet training, and modern jazz dance was her talent in the Miss Connecticut Scholarship pageant. She has done some fashion modeling and modeling for covers of national magazines and i novels. She has also been chosen to model for Hallmark greeting cards and posters.

She hopes eventually to combine modeling, performing and television work. Gets 5 cents worth of curiosity, 'fame! AKRON, Ohio (AP) Every day for nearly 40 years, 0.
