SIXTY THURSDAY, OCTOBER ,24, 1968. THURMOND WOOS WALLACE VOTERS Winds Up 2-Day Georgia Tour on Behalf of Nixon I STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) A Wallace vote is a wasted vole, Sen. Strom Thurmond, said Wednesday night as he wound up a two-day Georgia tour designed to woo supporters of third-parly presidential candi date George Republican Richard M. Nixon.

Addressing a crowd estimated at 2,000, Thurmond said votes for Wallace will help put Democrat Hubert H. Humphrey in the White House. Wallace has no chance ot win- ring nationally, but he could draw enough votes to throw the presidential election into the U.S. House of Representatives, where Humphrey would have the best chance of being chosen president, the South Carolina Republican said. Earlier, Thurmond predicted Nixon wilt carry six Southern states and Wallace will carrj the others.

'Georgia Might Decide Race 1 "Georgia might decide this race," he said, "because if the state goes for Nixon, I think he will win the election straigh out. If it goes for the third-party candidate, it might throw the election into the House." He said Nixon, and Wallace have similar views on some issues, but there is "a billion dol ilars worth of difference" be tween Nixon and Humphrey."
