Volume 105 Moroni MORONI- Moroni City approved and passed a $277,710 1997-98 fiscal year budget at a public hearing June 18. A small increase in taxes from last years budget was approved but government grants are expected to make up for it. Appropriation from the fiduciary fund of $35,000 for capital projects will be used for the recreation complex. Animal control has a $400 budget. Watersewer With a total operating budget of $170,000, the largest contributing factor in the water fund is water sales, expected at connection fees, and penalties and forfeitures, $4,000. The property taxmill levy fund is set at $9,000 and miscellaneous revenue at $300. The sewer fund has a total operating budget of $63,650. The directing team will begin their duties at the close of this season. Hall, who first directed the pageant in 1989 when author and director Macksene S. Rux retired. During several of those nine years, Hall drove daily from Salt Lake City for practices. Ivo Peterson was raised in Richfield.

Peterson has worked professionally for Pioneer Memorial Theatre, Promised Valley Theatre and Music Theatre of Wichita. For the last four years, he has directed a fall comedy at Manti City Hall. He directed the competition one-act play for Manti High School for the past three years.

will perform during the Freedom Rally on July 6 at 7 p.m. in the North Sanpete High School Auditorium. A pre-performance for family and friends will be held Sunday, June 29, at 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 91 South 100 West, Mt. Pleasant.

The group has held weekly rehearsals and are now ready to perform. Members of the Sanpete Valley Freedom Ringers are: from Mt. Pleasant, Camilla Phillips, Bradley Blackham, Sara Tarr, Ben Thompson, and Elise Tuttle; from Fairview, Joshua Norman, Tory Norman, Deanna Terry, and Kristi Poulsen; and from Spring City, Misty Bagerty, Amy Brown, and Christy Freeman. PLEASANT- Pat Ellsworth, three-year director of Wasatch Community Bell Choir, has assembled a Youth Bell Choir especially for this years Freedom Rally. The group is called The Sanpete Valiey Freedom Ringers and Ephraim for a traffic violation. A female juvemle was cited for Not a Drop violation and released to her parents. Trooper Gene Openshaw was called to the scene of a one-car rollover two miles south of Mt. Pleasant, June 22 at 11:55 a.m.

A 90 Mitsubishi, driven by Tarah Theresa Cox, 17, Ephraim, went off the roadway to the right. The driver apparently overcorrected and lost control. The vehicle slid across the road and rolled five times. Ms. Cox was transported to Sanpete Valley Hospital where she was treated and released.

She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident. RICHFIELD- Trooper Denis Avery was called to the scene of an auto pedestrian accident at 200 North in Manti on June 20, at 6:39 p.m. A 94 Chrysler, driven by John Weis, 36, Sterling, apparently struck Ariel Mickel-son, 6, Manti. She was taken to Gunnison Hospital, where she was treated and released. On June 21, at 8:56 p.m..

Trooper Kelly Roberts stopped a vehicle near Ephraim for numerous traffic violations. The vehicle was impounded for improper registration and the driver, Ruben Castello, Moroni, was cited for no drivers license and no insurance. At 10:40 p.m. Trooper Gene Openshaw stopped a vehicle near to Stephanie Larsen, Camille Barclay, Kay Jensen, Brady Farmer and Tracy Tablot, attorney generals staff, Susan Barclay, Joni Henningson. Sanpete County Child Abuse Prevention team recently met with staff members of the governors and adjutant generals offices while attending an annual conference of the Utah Association of Education of Young Children. i.
