Tel 'Aviv Dive-Bombed Truce From Page One Meanwhile, Jews and Arabs continued to fight for supremacy in the old walled city of Jerusalem and its supply road to Tel Dive bombers attacked Tel Aviv itself, main city of the Israeli regime.

The Egyptians said two Jews arrested near Gaza confessed throwing typhoid and dysentery germs into the Egyptian army's water supply there. An Arab Legion communique said 800 Jews had been kiled in the battle of Latrun, key highway point southeast of Tel Aviv. They declared the Israelis had suffered a "crushing defeat" in the battle, which extended over Latrun, Beit Juz and Khulda, five miles west of Latrun. The Arabs said also that Jews in the old walled city of Jerusalem, where religious shrines are clustered, had been compressed into 200 sugare yards. School Tax Levy In High Court By Associated Press Taxes levied by all Pennsylvania school districts under the new home-rule tax law may be invali: dated if the State Supreme Court upsets an impost on strip-mined bituminous coal in Dunkard Township, Greene County, the tribunal was 'told today. W. Robert Thompson, Waynesburg, solicitor for the township school district, told the seven justices that if the Dunkard tax of 10 cents a ton is ruled illegal so are all levies made by other school boards under the broadened local tax laws of 1947. James W. Hawkins, counsel for 54 taxpayers, contended in an appeal to the court that the new impost is invalid because it was levied after the adoption of the school district's 1947-48 budget.

The levy was upheld by Greene County Court. Escheat Law Upheld The court today upheld the State's right to hold in safekeeping money from dormant national bank accounts untouched over a seven-year period. Two Pittsburgh banks, the Union Trust and the Peoples Pittsburgh Trust must hand over to the Department of Revenue funds in their accounts which come an act passed by the 1921 Legislature, the appellate court ruled. The State appealed a decision of the Allegheny common pleas court which allowed the banks to retain the money. Counsel for the banks argued that the act was unconstitutional because it "deprived people of property without due process of Africa Appeal Heard Among cases argued today in the State Supreme Court was the appeal from a decision by Judge Richards in the Dauphin County Orphans' Court in the estate of Mrs.

Susan Meyers Africa, late of this city. The question involves the possible termination of that portion of a trust fund which was left to a grandson, Daniel Drake Africa, who was reported missing in action over the Tyrrhenian Sea on August 26, 1943, and who is presumed to be dead. The estate was left in trust for three grandchildren until the youngest becomes 30 years old on January 2, 1955. The brothers claim that the death of Daniel terminates his trust and that his share should be distributed now. Judge Richards ruled they must wait until 1955.
