Pine Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Born in McAdoo, July 4, 1915, he was the son of the late John and Illona (Barna) Hress. He attended McAdoo school, and lived in McAdoo for many years, moving to Mahanoy City a few years ago. He worked as an electrician, and was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in Africa and Italy.

He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, and was very active in the church as well as with St. Mary's Center. Surviving are his wife, the former Anastasia (Nellie) Kruika DiBaggio; two sisters, Helen Fulton, Lake Hauto; Veronica Succi, California; a brother, George, Mahanoy City, cantor at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the David D. Jarrett Funeral Home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, McAdoo. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. A parastas will be held at 7:30 p.m. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Retirement Fund for the Sisters of St.

Basil at Mount St. Macrina, Uniontown, PA, which may be made at the funeral home. Sister Mary Arsenia, taught at Holy Trinity Sister Mary Arsenia, a member of the Sisters of Christian Charity who once taught at Holy Trinity School in 1 Hazleton, died on Jan. 5. The former Margaret Traut, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine (Grossman) Traut, Hyde Park, Scranton.

She lived at the Holy Family Convent, Danville, and St. Ann's Academy, Wilkes-Barre, and celebrated her 70th year as a Sister of Christian Charity on May 24, 1988. In addition to teaching at Holy Trinity, she taught at these schools: St. Joseph's in Jim Thorpe, Nativity of Our Lady, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; St. Benedict's, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Sacred Heart, Luzerne; Our Lady Help of Christians, Allentown; and St.

Nicholas, Wilkes-Barre. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Joyce and Mrs. Loretta Rankey, and one brother, Nicholas. Surviving are one sister, Mrs.

Genevieve Driscoll, Scranton; two brothers, Bernard, Wilmington, and Joseph, Scranton; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held from the Holy Family Convent, Danville, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the chapel. Interment was in Holy Family Cemetery, Danville. Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of Mary (Puskar) Golomb, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Peter Golomb. He was formerly employed a at Certain-Teed, Mountaintop, and was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke. Surviving with his mother are his wife, the former Joyce Jeffries, Mountaintop; three children, Ronald, Nanticoke, and Keith Jay and Leigh Ann, both of Mountaintop; one sister, Mrs.

Barbara Guziak, Mountaintop; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at 9 a.m. from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 W. Green Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Margaret Pace Margaret (Joan) Pace, of R.D.1 Falls, a native of Jeddo, died early Monday morning in Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Jeddo, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Hollick) Kohler, and was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Harding-Falls. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by one sister, Rita LaBadie. Surviving are her husband, Louis; two sons, Tim, Plains, and Dean, Falls; one daughter, Mrs.

Willis (Dawn) Hapeman, Mt. Zion; three brothers, John, Emil, and Albert, all of California; three sisters, Mrs. John (Irene) Sullivan, Georgia, Mrs. Anna Ibach, Florida, and Mrs. Helen Bellas, New Jersey; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Viewing will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Michael Yashin Michael Yashin, 75, of 4491 44th Lane, Ocala, a S.W. former area resident, died Sunday in his home. Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Frank and Ellie Yashin, and was the co-owner of the Machine and Metal Products Brooklyn, N.Y. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret (Baldini) Yashin; one son, Michael, Mendon, one daughter, Mrs.

David (Karen) Heuman, Larsen Bay, Alaska; one brother, Nicholas, Warminster, Bucks County; and one grandson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell Summit Hill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.

Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. Susan Kraynock Mrs. Susan (Gubanitz) Kraynock, 74, Clifton, N.J., died Tuesday. Born in Audenried, she lived in Beaver Meadows before moving to Clifton in 1951. She was a member of St.

Michael's Byzantine Cathedral, Passaic, N.J. Her husband, John, died in 1985. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Patricia) DeFeo, South Windsor, two sisters, Miss Kathryn Gubanick, Clifton, N.J.; Mrs. Anna Hinkle, Tresckow, and three grandchildren.

at the V.A. Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, where he had been a patient the past year, following an illness of six years. Born in Freeland, he was a son the late George and Anastasia (Kadilak) Skutinsky. A 1944 graduate of Hazleton High School, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and several other decorations.

Prior to his illness, he had been employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot for 35 years. He was a member of St. Casimir's R.C. Church, Freeland. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Cabi, to whom he was married for 36 years; two daughters, Mrs.

Anthony (Jean) Sulkevich, Freeland, and Mrs. James (Nancy) Bove, Mechanicsburg; one sister, Mrs. John (Helen) Walko, Hazleton; four brothers, Peter and John, Hazleton, George, Chicago, and Michael, Newark, N.J.; five grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from the Frank J.

A wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Rocco Lyate Rocco Lyate, of 573 Pinedale Drive, Annapolis, a native of Hazleton, died Saturday at the Anne Arundel General Hospital, Annapolis, after a brief illness. Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Rocco and Mamie (Longo) Lyate, and had resided in this area until 1962 when he relocated to Maryland. He was employed by the National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

Surviving are his wife, Robin; three children, Jennifer, Rocco, and Kate Lynn, all of Maryland; three sisters, Mrs. Nuncio (Angeline) Chinni, Mrs. Gerald (Marlene) Avillion, Hazleton, and Mrs. John (Rosemarie) Penkala, State College; one brother, Anthony, Hazleton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 10 a.m.

in St. Mary's Church, Annapolis. A Memorial Mass for relatives and friends will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton, on Thursday at 7 p.m. Mrs. Mary Bruno Mrs.

Mary (Moisey) Bruno, of 32 Fourth Kelayres, died Monday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading. Born in Tresckow, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Zaja) Moisey, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Kelayres. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Ernest, who died in 1961. Surviving are two sons, Gregory, Hometown, and Lester, Kelayres; two daughters, Mrs.

Stephen (Deborah) Motika, Kutztown, and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Houseknecht, Kelayres; four grandchildren; four brothers, John, West Hazleton, Andrew, Tresckow, Joseph, Hazle Village, and Peter, McAdoo; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Tolerico, Hazle Village, and Sister Mary Ruth, Stowe. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Blaine and Cleveland streets, McAdoo, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Company No. 8, Coaldale. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was one son, Dominic, who died in August 1928. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Emerson Cecilton, Mrs.

John (Dolores Kistler, Lehighton, and Mrs. Albert (Loretta) Mikula, Hazleton; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Edward J. McNamara Funeral Home, 3 E.

Parry, 64, 538 Peace Hazleton, died early Tuesday morning at the Hazleton General Hospital, after being stricken ill at his home last Sunday. Born in McAdoo, he was the son of Bernice (Blew) Parry, Sun City, Arizona, and the late Arthur E. Parry. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hazleton.

Prior to his retirement two years ago, he was a foreman at the Geissler Knitting Mill. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the European Theatre during World War II, and also the Korean War. Preceding him in death were his first wife, the former Nancy Jane Sherry, who died in 1975. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Marion (Schaeffer Shostak), at home; two daughters, Mrs.

Larry (Nancy Ellen) Harman, Conyngham; Mrs. Thomas (Lori Ann) Young, Palmerton; a brother, George New Tripoli; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Charlotte) Murphy, Phoenix, two grandchildren; eight stepchildren, Linda Gerhard, Mount Holly, N.J.; David, Paul, Diane, James, Joseph, and Janet Shostak, all of Hazleton, and John Shostak, U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Helen Kuntz Mrs. Helen Kuntz, Fritzingertown Country Home, Drums, died Tuesday at 2:25 p.m. at the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Born in Drifton, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Lucas) Javornok. She was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, John, who died in 1984; and five sisters, Mary, Elizabeth, Susan, Ann and Mrs. Veronica Garis.

Surviving are a son, Edward Avenel, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Sophia Chaya, Hazleton; Mrs. Eva Mianecki, Absecon, N.J.; Mrs. Pauline Kara, Absecon, N.J., and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Divine Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

Wilkie, 53, of Wilkes-Barre, ex-city administrator and public works director, died Monday in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born on July 12, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Harry L. and Margaret (Weiner) Wilkie, and graduated from G.A.R. High School, Wilkes-Barre, in 1953. He was employed for many years as a manager of Arts and Woodwork Kitchen Designers, Wilkes Wilkie, who was credited with playing a key role in helping Wilkes-Barre recover from the 1972 flood, served as a liaison for the city to the Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority.

He was city administrator and public works director from 1980 to 1988. He was recently appointed superintendent of roads and bridges for Luzerne County. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was one brother, Alan. Surviving are his wife, the former Norma M. Nardone; four brothers, Harry L.

Monta Vista, Joseph Carl, Wilkes Gerald Mainz, Germany, and Thomas Wilkes-Barre: three sisters, Margaret A. Wilkie and Judith M. Nealon, both of Ashley, and Karen Wilkie, Mountaintop; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday from the M.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 S.

Washington Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aloysius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 09 p.m.

Christopher Petruska gave the blessing at the funeral home, was the celebrant of the Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial in St. Michael's B.C. Church, McAdoo, and gave the final blessing at the graveside in St. Mary's Ukrainian Cemetery, McAdoo. Pallbearers were Stanley, John, Richard, a and David Molosky, all sons, John Molosky grandson, and Jeffrey Sabrowsky, son-inlaw.

Military rites were accorded by members of American Legion Post 276 and VFW Post 6708, McAdoo. Participants were Gilbert Bachman, commander; Francis Tomczak, Francis Biskupsics, Russel Bahrey, Leroy Adams, Eckley Roberts and George Buckleitner. The funeral of Mrs. Minnie M. (Boudman) Dixon, of 444 E.

Chestnut Hazleton, who died on Sunday at the Hazleton General Hospital, was held Tuesday morning from the Fierro Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl G. Schweitzer, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated at the services funearl home, and at the committal service at the graveside in Mt. Laurel Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were James Moratto, Jeffrey A. Fierro, Anthony DeFrancesco, and Andrew Piskel. The funeral of Charles M. Strizak 713 N. Vine Hazleton, who died Monday at the Hazleton-St.

Joseph Medical Center, was held Tuesday morning from the Moran Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Ghezzi gave the blessing at the funeral home. The Rev. Maurice Raymond was the celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church, and also gave the blessing in the chapel at Calvary Cemetery.

Ada Catherine (Houseknecht) Doud, 68, a resident of 533 N. Locust Hazleton, died at her residence Tuesday morning. She was pronounced dead by Luzerne County Deputy Coroner John J. Peters. Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Emery Bertha (Hahn) Houseknech, and spent her entire life in Hazleton.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton, where for many years, she served as superintendent and teacher of the primary department at the Sunday School. She was a 1937 graduate of Hazleton High School, and, prior to her retirement, she had been employed locally by both the Edward Steckert Pontiac Dealership and the trust department of the Peoples First National Bank. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Eltringham. Surviving are her husband, Owen Hazleton; two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Ruth Alice) Cole, Jersey Shore; Mrs.

Kenneth (Joyce) Dugan, Portsmouth, one grandson; a brother, Gordon, Milnesville; a sister, Mrs. J. Herbert (Ruth) Young, Lancaster, one niece and several nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon from the Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home, 426 W. Broad Hazleton, with the Rev.

Stanley R. Trout, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton, conducting the services. Interment in the Conyngham Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday 10 a.m. until time of services.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a retired U.S. Marshal. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, were three sisters, Clara Long, Doris Barger and Jean Frank. Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia E.

Butcher, a former resident of England; a daughter Cindy Reedy, Chantilly, one grandson; three sisters, Grace Quast, Morristown, Thelma Sauers, Hughestown; Shirley Lincalis, Harrisburg; a brother, Earl Sybertsville, and his stepmother, Peg Long, Hazleton. A military funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Fort Meyers Chapel, Va. Interment will follow in the Arlington National Cemetery.
