underprivileged children has remained at a standstill total of $5547 since Saturday due to the four-da holiday weekend Hopefully the next mail delivery will bring a substantial increase in contributions from Ark-La-Tex residents Only six more YMCA camp sessions are open to registration while hundreds of Kiwanis scholarship applicants still await sponsorship Unlike those children whose families send them to camp and on vacations every summer they will stay in foster homes or with relatives often heavily burdened by misfortune unless sufficient funds are donated AREA RESIDENTS donated more than $7000 to the 1971 Kiwanis Camp Fund enabling more than 300 underprivileged youngsters to attend YMCA camps last summer through the club scholarship program The same outcome looks govern-menfal officials and civic leaders launched a drive here this morning to secure famed evangelist Dr Billy Graham for an area-wide crusade to tie held in Slate Fair Stadium here possibly as 113 California delegates The three-judge court also sent back to US District Judge George Hart Jr a case in which Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is seeking reinstatement of himself and 18 other Illinois delegates denied seating by the credentials panel legal counsel meanwhile was enjoined from taking further action in state apparently pending disposal of the federal to block seating of a challenge JOURNAL STATION First in Shreveport Quang Tri city has been levelled by bombing attacks since the Communists captured the province WHILE THE lead elements moved into the city with little resistance South Vietnamese marines seven miles southeast of Quang Tri City met with a heavy North Vietnamese counter-attack from a battalion supported by 15 tanks The marines reported no tanks knocked out but said 48 Communists were killed with government casualties placed at nine dead and 16 wounded TWO MILES southeast of Quang Tri City at sundown Tuesday a battalion of about 500 Communists attacked government troops in as assault led by 18 tanks and at about the same time another battalion attacked seven miles east of the city No casulty reports were available on either skirmish UPI CORRESPONDENT Barney Seibert reported the troops entering Quang Tri City today radioed back that it had been leveled by bombardment Heavy naval shelling and aerial bombing preceded the North Vietnamese capture of the province South northernmost May 1 and during the government drive to retake the city over the past eight days The province fell to the Communists a month after they launched their offensive in South Vietnam March 30 It is the only province still in North Vietnamese hands Seibert said that behind lead elements entering Quang Tri City was the mam body of a paratroop vanguard 1000 men strong and backed by tanks that pushed forward from positions half a mile and a mile south of the city TUESDAY US warplanes flying path clearing missions for paratroop advance
