Blaiberg's Wife Attends I Funeral of Heart Dono CAPE TOWN, South Africa CAP) Mrs. Philip Blaiberg attends the funeral today of the 24-year-old man whose transplanted heart is keeping her husband alive and with whose family the Blaibergs plan to share money made from films of the operation. wife of the 58-year-old dentist sent a bouquet of carnations Friday to the bride of Clivc Haupt. Haupt collapsed and died from a stroke Tuesday, just three months after (heir marriage.

Area Leaders to Join In Urban Problem Talks Mayor Curran has invited about 150 leaders of Bridgeport area communities to a meeting Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to consider organizing a "Metropolitan Coalition" for a broad attack on urban problems. The meeting, to take place in the Common Council chambers, City is expected to be attended by municipal, civic, business, industrial, labor, educational and social welfare leaders from surrounding towns, including those in the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning area. Principal speaker will be Ron M. Linton, of Washington, D.C., national coordinator for the Urban Coalition.

The latter group, organized early last year, sponsored a meeting of some 800 mayors and civic leaders last summer at which a crash program for ghetto aid was urged. M. Alusand and JO officers and crewmen remained aboard to try to save the ship. The Dutch fire-fighting tug Swartze-zee arrived al the scene from Portland, Victoria, lo help.

The tug had been stationed at an oil drilling rig at Portland. The passengers and 31 crewmen took to lifeboats on Alu- sand's orders and were picked up by the Australian freighter Rkdon. Another crewman, suffering body burns, was taken off the ship earlier by a fishing boat and was sent to a hospital. An electrical fault that resulted in the explosion of Ihe Tomar's generator was believed to have caused the fire. The To mar was bound for Melbourne and Sydney from Baltic ports with 6,000 tons of general cargo.

U. S. ASKS ISRAEL FOR $3.3 MILLION WASHINGTON (AP) United States has asked the Israeli government to pay $3.3 million to compensate the families of 34 Navy men killed June 8 when Israeli planes and torpedo boats attacked and severly damaged an American naval vessel in the Mediterranean. Israeli jets made six strafing runs over the USS Liberty, followed 20 minutes later by three torpedo boats that fired at least two torpedoes. Soon after the attack Israel expressed regret, declared the incident a mistake and said it was ready to pay reparations.

State Department officials said the money is to compensate for loss of support and "emotional anguish." They said they are proceeding with work on other claims including damage to the ship and the cost of medical treatment of the injured. THOMAS A. KIERNAN Thomas A. Kiernan, 60, of 487 Woodlawn avenue, Stratford, vice president and trust officer of (he City Trust company, died today in Bridgeport hospital. Services will take place Monday at 8:15 a. m.

Kitr- a attended Butler i school and took special courses at the New York university's Institute of Federal Taxation and the University of Connecticut. He joined City Trust in 1925, and was named office manager of the trust department in 1945. He was elected a trust officer in I960, and an assistant vice president in 1963. Mr. Kiernan was a past president of the Bridgeport chapter, American Institute of Banking, and an instructor at the institute, where he taught courses in trust department services.

He was a member of the Trust Administration and Development subcommittee of the Connecticut Bankers association. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Felicia Burnett Kiernan; two sons, Terence of Hartford, and Jeffrey of Stratford; a daughter, Celeste of Stratford, and a sister, Miss M. Eleanor Kiernan of Stratford. TERM SUSPENDED IN RIFLE THREAT NEW HAVEN (AP)-A New Haven man who brandished ririe for two hours during a confrontation with police last summer was given a suspended jail sentence Friday on a conviction for simple assault. Only one shot was fired last July 7 as some 50 police sur rounded the home where Stuart Wright, 31, shouted Ihreats at the officers.

State's Atty. George R. Tiernan told the court that Ihe repeated gunfire-like sounds from inside the house were the report of firecrackers. One shot came when Wright was leaving the house and he pulled the rifle's trigger ac- cidently when blinded by tear gas, Tiernan said. Superior Court Judge Raymond Devlin sentenced Wright to a suspended one-year jail term, and two years probation.

Wright's attorney. Public Defender Anthony DeMayo, told the court that his client's outburst was triggered by family difficulties which have since been cleared up. RED INTELLECTUALS FACE SOVIET COURT MOSCOW (AP) A Soviet court will begin to try four young Russian intellectuals Monday on charges of anti-Soviet propaganda. still was not known whether the trial would be open to the public. Litvinow, a grandson of a former Soviet Foreign Minister, and by more than 100 oth er Soviet intellectuals. Two defendants Alexander Ginsburg, 31, and Yuri Galan- skov, 28--are expected to be charged with making a record of the trial two years ago of satirists Andrei D. Sinyavsky and Yuli M. Daniel. Those two writers were convicted of anti-Soviet propaganda in a trial closed to Westerners.

The other defendants in Ihe current case are poet Alexei Dobrovolsky. 29, and Vera Lash- kova, 21. Sources said Miss I-ashkova's involvement was limited to typing for the others. The trial is expected to last one week, with 35 witnesses beinc called. An Army veteran of World War he was a life member of Harry W. Congdon post American Legion. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church. He began his business career in 1907 as a candy maker before entering the U.S. A and later helped organize the Crown Groceries and United Food Stores in Bridgeport and Fairfield.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Polena Demas; two sons, William, of Bridgeport and Dr. Peter Demas, of Old Saybrook; a daughter, Mrs. Louis Prifti, of Arlington, seven grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces. Mrs.
