What Is Grown Here The best crops of the valley are l)cars, hops, prunes and the bugaboo of tho railroad when it comes to shipping season, grapes, and then some more The Bartlett pear of Ukiah is bcinf recognized more ai more each season in the Eastern market, and within a few years this valley will be one of the pear shipping centers of California, more young orchards being planted yearly, and lots of bearing trees coming in each year. World Famous Plant At Ukiah is located the celebrated California Grape Products Company's plant whose products arc being shipped all over the United States, and who recently shipped under refrigeration to Torreon, Mexico, a carload of grape cuttings an indication that the products of this vicinity are sought for at other )laccs. The Beans We Pack We would not be doing justice to the situation if we overlooked the wonderful Lake County string bean, which is accepted as the tincst of its kind in California, and every finds the local cannery putting up thonsands of cases of string beans, and employing many hundreds of people to take care of this work.
