MR. lr SORT OF A Citizens Ask Extension Of District More sewer disposal trouble beset th county board of supervisors at their meeting Tuesday when in addition to a request for improvements in the Rio del Mar area, residents of Twin Lakes asked an extension of the sanitation district there to include their property. Residents petitioning for the extension are along Seventh avenue and 17th avenue.

They ask projection of the current system further along those streets. The sewer in Twin Lakes is now under construction. The board set Friday, September 7, for hearing on the proposed annexation to the Twin Lakes district. At that time, any protests against the annexation may be heard and residents wishing to have the annexation may also express their views. An 1 additional matter concerning the Twin Lakes sanitation district was that of maintenance of the convenience station placed on the beach in that area.

It was ruled that the district should bear the cost, rather than assess the entire county for maintenance of a local. project. Second Public Health Nurse For County Another public health nurse, one to serve the southern end of the county as her main duty, has been added to the county health department here, it was learned by the Sentinel-News. She is Mrs. Frances Guthrie, who has been doing public health work for the city and county of San Francisco for almost the last ten years.

Mrs. Guthrie told the Sentinel-News much of her Job would center around work in the rural sections of the southern part of the county, but that she would maintain her office hours at the department headquarters here on Front street. She will relieve Mrs. Josephine P. Stilt, supervising public health nurse, of much of the field work which must be done with the department.

Trained in San Francisco hospitals and familiar with many of the problems of a public health officer, Mrs. Guthrie will be in the city of Watsonville on the second Tuesday of each month to conduct a baby clinic, but her other work will not reach the city as it has its own health department, it was explained. During the fall and winter seasons much of her work will -ANP SO THE OANCE BECOMES "THE SQUlRRELY WHIRL JUVeNILE RENDEZVOUS, THE An excellent crowd of Santa Cruz-1 ans turned out for the Ware-Hazel ton presentation of "Ten Little Indians" Tuesday night in the civic auditorium and saw one of the best stage shows since the building of the auditorium. Presented with a good story, a well chosen cast turned in a fine performance that jumped from stark drama with all the thrills of a good mystery, to rollicking comedy in the matter of seconds. The action was fast all the time, with a good stage setting, fine sound effects, and the added attraction of a "real live bat" that flew out into the audience during the last scene after flying around the stage for a minute.

And after the last curtain call and the audience was filing out the exits, the bat was still flying around the The star of the cast, Robert Warwick, gave a good periormance as the judge who wanted to take life I in nis own lianas, ana aia. war-wick has been acting for years and it is practically impossible for him to turn in a bad performance. However, as far as the audience was concerned, the comedy antics of Lillian Foster as Emily Brent and Philip Tonge as William Blore were the highlights, of the show. Miss Foster, whose costume typed her as a spinsterish old maid, had a voice and a part that couldn't help but bring on the laughs. Unfortunately she was killed off midway in the play.

Philip Tonge as an 'ex-Scotland Yard man who took a bribe, portrayed a not-too-honest private do McPhetres Named Bridge Building Consultant Here County bridge building got a boost at the supervisors' meeting Tuesday afternoon, when the board named D. M. McPhetres as a consulting engineer on proposed constructions. McPhetres, in a letter to the board, informed them he would prepare desjgns, plans and specifications for proposed couqty bridges at a fee of six per cent of the total cost of the projects, the usual fee. First plans to be prepared, it was announced, will be thase for the Corralitos bridge, at Freedom, the Rawson bridge at Soquel and the Mill Creek bridge.

D'Arcy, a good looking hulk of a man, was cast as an adventurous hero who turned into a matinee idol. Toni Gilman, the female lead, portrayed an excellent bit of acting in the final scene. Coming in the middle of the summer season, the play drew a crowd of about 1400 people and provided as nice an evening's entertainment as lovers of the legitimate stage have had in Santa Cruz for many a moon as the Ten Little Indians headed for the happy hunting ground. In faltering monosyllabic English, he tells how Japanese killed both his mother and father in their Manila home early in the war.

An only child, Adone said he was playing under the house when Japanese soldiers entered. "I see through floor," he related, gesticulating, and big, boyish eyes rolling. "Japs try take my mother. My father fight them. Japs bayonet my father, my mother." Adone says he later hiked with two older boys to Bataan and tagged along with guerrillas, living in the open.

Now he is in a Filipino unit attached to the battalion of L. Col. Robert W. King of Terre Haute, (1425 Poplar street), and wants to continue an army career. "I like to go patrols after Japs," he said.

A carbine is his weapon. His major said he hoped Adone would be able to continue in the army because of his enthusiasm for it, but he said the boy might be eliminated when army physical standards are instituted. "Once I was sending out a patrol on a difficult three-day mission," the major explained. "I told Adjne he couldn't go because he wasn't strong enough. 1 don't know whether it is that he is a very good shot or just luck, but the other men verify that he killed three Japs.

He got two' of them one day." Adone says the Japanese have shot at him several times but it doesn't scare him, and he doesn't think they are very good soldiers. Nature must produce about two pints of a vital digestive juice to help digest your food. If Nature fails, rour food may remain undigested-raving you headachy and irritable. Therefore, you must increase the flow of this digestive juice. Carter's Little Liver Pills increase this flow quickly often in as little as 30 minutes. And, you're on the road to feeling better.

Don't depend on artificial aids to counteract Indigestion when Carter'! Little Liver Pills aid digestion after Nature's own order. Take Carter's Little Liver Pills as directed. Blinding, choking fumes filled the destroyer's number four gun turret. The gun captain gasped and blinked his burning eyes. "Keep 'em going! keep 'em going!" he shouted. Five-inch shells were pouring from the gun, at the rate of one every few seconds, into the Japanese fishing port and air base of Suribachi on Paramushiro island. Something had gone wrong in number four turret after the first round.

A mechanical failure caused the powder fumes and smoke to fill the turret. The gun's rate of fire lagged. A gunner's mate, Eugene F. Erpenbeck of 1533 Gordova avenue, Lakewood, at a 40 millimeter gun post on the open deck, noted the lag. He crawled into the turret to help.

On the bridge, Lt. Cmdr. John Francis Ducey of 510 North Latches lane, Merion, and Northeast Harbor, the destroyer's skipper, also noted the lag. But 'he was busy keeping his ship in the bombardment line and observing results in Suribachi, against the background of Tatagami volcano. He had no way of aiding the turret crew.

W). Ad jne Santaiago ijs probably the only soldier in the Philippines who ever cried because he couldn't go hunting Japanese in the mountains. He cried like the small boy he is. Private Santiago of the Philippine Commonwealth army is only 13 years old. He looks like a toy soldier in the flesh.

The roncussion of a mortar blast might blow all 65 pounds of him away. But -little Adone's military prowess is a thing to command respect. The Filipino major commanding his unit says Adone's comrades have confirmed his claim to having killed seven Japs one during two years as a guerrilla and six since the guerrilla units have been absorbed into the army organization. Adone looks more like a mascot than a member of the team. He is equipped with regular uniform, slightly oversize.
