Chief of Police Gerald Dunbar says. "The police are trying to get into riot control if they can get the proper equipment," says Dunbar. Dunbar asked for worth of equipment. This was cut to $2,100 in the preliminary budget.

29th "Wouldn't You Really Rather Have A Buick" Yellowstone County Commissioners Wednesday killed a request for a county morgue, but still fell short of their announced goal of reducing county budgets enough to possibly reduce taxes. Total budget cuts made by the commissioners Wednesday were slightly over two-tenths of a mill, leaving them far short of their announced intention of at least holding taxes to last year's levy. With only one budget to go, commissioners still had about four-tenths of a mill over last year's levy in preliminary county budgets. SOME BUDGETS remained to be reviewed for final approval, however. County Coroner Leonard Lar-sen really didn't expect the commissioners to approve the $10,000 he asked for a morgue, according to his budget request.

He had put a question mark behind the request. Commissioners cut $4,500 from County Probation Officer Albert Thomas's request to care of delinquent boys and girls and trimmed out his request for an additional deputy to handle increasing numbers of juvenile delinquents. Home Health nurses' salaries were adjusted. Weed Control's budget was approved. The County Museum was held to a five per cent increase in all line items.

BUDGETS for two Justice Courts were approved without change. One budget had been prepared by former Justice of Peace Norman D. Evans, removed from his office following conviction for filing a false statement. A few days after the charge was filed against him, Evans penned in his budget request, "I anticipate additional 'revenue' JOIN THE RANKS OF THE BIG-TIME SAVERS 'Posse' Gets 3 Youths Our 5 Savings Certificates are more practical for more people people like you!
