CLASS PLAY AT RINGGOLD HI TO BE GIVEN APRIL 12 ARCADIA April High school won the prize offered by the parish superintendent for the best history of their school This contest was parish-wide and the 10 high schools of the parish contested The contest was in connection with the tricentenary of the founding of the first high school in America held March 15 throughout the nation The prize-winning essay was written by Bert Davis a member of the senior class His subject was "History of the Arcadia High School" The paper will be sent to Baton Rouge to enter the state contest The prize given is a set of assistant scoutmaster and their decision of whether or not they will accept the reorganization of the local scout troop which has been inactive for some months will -be announced this week by Dick civic workers interested in the Boy Scout movement for Stamps PARMERVILLE La April The -Union parish school board Tuesday afternoon passes resolutions and ordinances providing for a refunding of its bond issues an extension of payments and a reduction of mileage and taxes The board contracted with Chicago and New Orleans agencies for the refunding of all obligations and all legal requirements will be supervised by Chaffin Cutler nationally known bonding attorneys A few days prior to this meeting both the police jury of Union and town of Farmerville took similar steps It is estimated the town will save $4000 in interest secure a reduction of two mills in taxes the first year and four mills thereafter and an extension of fire years longer on its obligations and wipe out several judgments now resting against it HOSSTON April '4--Dr and Mrs Collins were the honor guests at a reception given in celebration of their twenty-fifth 'anniversary on Friday evening March 29 in the
