No Magic Formula to Stop Alcoholic's Drinking "What is the magic formula to make an alcoholic stop drinking?" is frequently asked by those who live with a problem drinker, according to the Al-Anon Family Group In Forest Park, The answer is there is no "magic formula" because the desire to stop drinking must come from the alcoholic, the group said. However, it is unnecessary for the non-alcoholic, to suffer from the tensions and physical or verbal abuse created by the problem because she can get help too.the group added. Forest Park Open 7 DAYS Weekdays 9 to 9 THE WORD FROM VILLAGE HALL By Bob Haeger They actually arrested a couple of dog owners in the past few weeks and for good reasons, we're told. After numerous complaints that their hounds were being allowed to run loose, two local residents were brought In by police and posted $200 cash bond so they can answer in court why they have failed to exercise proper control over their pets.

Once again Commissioner Santo Rizzo has appealed to recipients of parkway trees and sodding to be sure they are watered regularly. In the absence of a good rainfall, Rizzo says, sod should be wetted down daily and new trees watered twice a week. For those who lose their new greenery through lack of care, there just are no replacements available. In just one week, we've seen two very official looking requests for contributions by police-oriented organizations (for lack of a better description), and both are highly questionable as to validity. One thing we do know; they have no local origin or support, yet they have come away with cash donations from well-intended business people who didn't take time to check them out.

Planning to build a fence? Don't figure to extend it beyond the front building line on your property. Fencing in your front yard is contrary to.village ordinance. The best bet when you're planning any significant improvements around your place is to call the Building Department (Ed Masso) at 366-2323, and they will help you avoid costly mistakes. Bumper Strip Winner Even If this week's LUCKY BUMPER STRIP winner had not seen his license number in the newspaper, his colleagues on the Police Department would have made sure he knew about it. Trained as they are to notice those things, five or six fellow officers remarked to Albert Tagliola that they had spotted his number In the REVIEW.
