Tebee seeing the members of the Ladies Aid Society, that helps to provide for their comforts, enjoying the Guild luncheon. It was held for the purpose of aiding the fund which must be raised each year so that the folk in the home may not want for any of the things to which they have been accustomed since the home was established several years ago. There were 125 women present at the luncheon and they seemed to enjoy it all the more because while they were having a good time they were doing good for others. Mrs. Helen Wiese, president of the Ladies Aid Society, who had arranged the affair, greeted her fellow members and their guests in a friendly fashion that made them all glad they had come.

Seated at a table with some men friends as special guests of the occasion was M. H. Renken, who has been president of the Men's Bociety of the Plattdeutsche Home for 18 years. Mr. Renken has probably done more for the home than any other individual and when he was presented to the guests of the afternoon by Mrs.

Marjorie Wardmnn, director of the Home Guild, he was given a warm welcome. Mr. Renken said a few words ol congratulation to the women for having turned out in such large numbers and exhorted them to keep up their interest in the home. In a little chat with Mr. Renken.

the reporter learned that among the diversions at the home birthday parties are the big events. "We have a boy down there," he said, "named Carl Hubner who will be 96 years old next Saturday. We had planned a big party for him, but he is ailing just now and the party must be postponed. We had even planned to have one of the latest talkies as part of the birthday program, but that treat and it will be a real treat, for most at our old folk are not familiar with the films must also be put over till the Spring." D. W. COAL CO. STDP GAMBLING ON COAL! 2 New SAUERKRAUT XOOa allowance is answered in a suggestion from Uncle 6am's dietitians to use steamed suet puddings. They are as simple as they are substantial.

Suet and flour being essential Ingredients keeps the cost low. Many combinations of fresh dried or cooked fruits may be used 'for flavorings and there are so many variations that they can be served without fear of monotony. These puddings are sometimes Bteamed in a mold or rolled Uke a lelly roll and tied up in a cloth. The Federal bureau suggests serving a clear cornstarch sauce with each pudding. Ginger sauce is the only one for which a recipe is given, because the others may be adapted from it.

For lemon sauce the vanilla -and ginger should be omitted and one. to two table spoonfuls of lemon Juice, and some of the grated rind should be substituted. The vanilla sauce is made like the ginger sauce, without the ginger. Other low-cost desserts, quite as appropriate for cold-weatner serving as the suet puddings, are scalloped or baked apples, applesauce, brown Betty and apple tapioca.
