Society The marriage of Miss Ruth Shirley, Mrs. McCandless, daughter of Mr. Henry Wallace McCandless of North Plainfield, N. to Donald Leonard Gordon, son of Mr. Mrs.

Harold Gordon of Westfield, N. took place yesterday afternoon in Holy Cross Episcopal Church, North Plainfield. The Rev. H. Lewis Smith, the rector, performed the ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the home of the bride's parents.

The bride is a graduate of Brooklyn Heights, Seminary. Her family formerly resided here. Mr. Gordon is editor of the American News Company's book review and a contributor to the Saturday Evening Post. Mr.

and Mrs. Gordon will reside in Manhattan, Miss Ruth McCandless Wed To Donald Gordon Yesterday In Plainfield, N. Church Dr. and Mrs. Cameron Duncan of 426 Ocean Ave.

and Mrs. Thomas Shore will leave tomorrow for Poughkeepsie, N. for the weekend, and they will attend the graduation of Miss Cyrene Duncan from Vassar College. Mrs. Glenwood R.

Butler of 226 Gates with her daughter, Mrs. Brower Hewitt (Antoinette Butler), has returned from the meeting of the Colonial Dames at Albany and Fort Ticonderoga. Mrs. accompanied by her granddaughter, Miss Cornelia Butler Hewitt, of Smith College and New Haven, will sail on the Cameronia of the Cunard Line on June 24. They will spend most of the Summer abroad in Scotland and England.

Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster Morgan are at Overbrook Farm, Southbury, and will go to Watertown, next week for the graduation of their grandson, John H. Ballantine from the Taft School. Mrs.

George Nichois will open her home and gardens at Cold Spring Harbor on Tuesday and Wednesday for an exhibition and sale of Greenwich House pottery. The proceeds are for the potters of Greenwich House. Miss Maude Robinson will assist Mrs. Nichols, who is the former Miss Jane N. Morgan.

Justice and Mrs. Pelham St. George Bissell have closed their apartment at 270 Park Manhattan, and are at their country place, Wayside, Freeport. Miss Emma Mills has returned from New Orleans and will give the first of her Long Island talks at the Piping Club, Locust Valley, on Tuesday morning. Mr.

and Mrs. William Sanford DuBois of 45 Dwight Place, Englewood, N. left today to spend the weekend with Mrs. A. Blair Platt at the latter's residence at Glenburn, Pa.

Mr. and Mrs. Townsend Scudder 3d and their two sons arrived today to spend the remainder of the month with Mrs. Scudder's mother, Mrs. Alvin Moody, at Shelter Island Heights.

McKeithen -Wood Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Marjorie Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles I. Wood of Sea Cliff to T. Bryon McKeithen, son of Mr.

and Mrs. John McKeithen of Urania, La. The ceremony was performad on May 22 while Miss Wood was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Poosey at New Orleans.

The bride spent the Winter at the Tuscon, ranch of her brotherin-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Love. She was graduated from Sea Cliff School and Pratt Institute. Mr.

McKeithen is in charge of reforestation development in the South. He was graduated from the University of Louisiana and from Yale. The bride's father is counsel for Oyster Bay town and was Assistant District Attorney of Nassau County for 13 years. Mr. and Mrs.

William Hale Harkness will spend the Summer at Locust Valley, where they have leased a house. Their yacht, Ardea, will be based at Glen Cove. Mrs. Harkness is the former Miss Elizabeth Grant of Rye, N. Y.

Mr. Harkness' mother, Mrs. William L. Harkness, is at her West Island residence and her yacht, Cythera, is at Glen Cove. Waugh -Raeder Miss Bertha Raeder, daughter of Dr.
