Ross has been removed and James Stephenson of Pocatello has been appointed to succeed him. This news came to Pocatello Monday in the following, notification to Mr. Stephenson of his appointment: State of Idaho, Executive Office, Boise, Idaho, Nov. 29, '02. Jas.

Stephenson, Jr. Esq. Pocatello, Idaho. My Dear Sir: I de- sire to notify you that I have today appointed you state engineer to date from November 80, 1902, to fill the vacancy caused by the removal of W. Ross, and to request that you file your official bond and assume charge of the office with its records and public property as soon as possible.

Stephenson is a republican jana is an applicant for the position of state engineer under the new administration which will go into offiee in Idaho on January 1st and his present appointment is taken as an indication of his continuance in that office by Goyernor Morrison when he goes into office. Mr. Stephenson is a thoroughly capable emgineer and a most popular gentleman the news of hit appointment will be received with pleasure by many friends here.
