MI TUESDAY, 3, BROOKLYN DAILY EAGLE, NEW YORK, OCTOBER held by the trial judge as sufficient to corroboration on of the Beuchel girl's accusation to justify a conviction of Manowitz. The Court of Appeals held this an error on the part of the trial judge. $10,000 'Demanded' A stir was caused in the courtroom when Manowitz took the stand and testified that Irving G. Warshaw, asociate judge of the City Court, had, as attorney for Miss Beuchel, demanded the payment of $10,000 to the girl and had urged Manowitz to pay the amount "whether you are innocent or not." Manowitz declared that he had taken the matter to the District Attorney to investigate "this attempt on the part of Tisch and Warshaw to blackmail me." Judge Zimmerman, who has had several political tilts with his associate, refered to this testimony in handing down his decision, saying, "we further have testimony that one of the lawyers representing Miss Beuchel demanded a large sum of money from Jacob Manowitz and, after the money was not paid, that Betty Beuchel, in the recommendation of that attorney presenuted her case through another attorney." A BRIGHTER WORLD WITH CORRECT Improper glasses makes one grouchy and uncomfortable. Have your eyes examined today.

City Judge J. Charles Zimmerman, who sat as both judge and jury, defered sentence pending an investigation of Tisch's record to determine whether the case should ze turned over to the Federal authorities for deportation proceedings. Tisch, a native of Germany, has been a resident of this country for 13 years and is not a citizen.

The cases grew out of the indictment, trial and conviction of Manowitz in 1931 on the charges made by the Beuchel girl. The conviction and ten-year sentence was subsequently set aside and the indictment dismissed by the Court Appeals. Manowitz's complaint agoinst Tisch was based on conversation between Tisch and several witnesses who yesterday testified that Tisch had admitted he had "framed" Manowitz with the help of Miss Beuchel and one Alfred Langel in order to get either $10,000 for the trio or $1.000 for Tisch to testify against Miss Beuchel. In the Manowitz triol Tisch testified that Manowitz had offered a bribe of $1,000 to him for favorable testimony. This story was L.
