I SUGGESTED RESOLUTIONS FOR THE HEW YEAR. I W. Some Qualities That Distinguish E. Connelly. Progress of the Kansas City, Pittsburg Gulf Railroad.

JIIME3 Mi laHSH, THE YEAR'S DEVELOPMENT Resolved, That before we buy we will examine ftie Men's and Boys' Clothing sold t)y the Department House, ds we are told we can get there just what we want and save big money on prices. Resolved, That before we buy we will examine the stock of Long Strides Through a Country Rich in the Variety and Abundance of Its Products Towards the Gulf of Mexico, There is no more popular official in Wyandotte county than William E. Connelly, chief assistant clerk of the district court. Mr. Connelly has had an extensive and very thorough experience in public and legal affairs.

He i3 distinguished for competency and the uniform courtesy and accommodation that makes his dealings with those who have business with him in his official capacity. Mr. Connelly served a period as county clerk and prior to his acceptance of the office he now holds was engaged in the banking business. He is a gentleman of splendid clerical ability, being accurate, methodical and pains taking, which makes him highly valuable as a public official. Flour, Feed, Coal and lixed Mortar.

The surprise of the Post would not be so great if its editor lived in Kansas, instead of in a community, grown powerful at the expense of the west. "How happens it," observes the Post, that a state so thoroughly American as Kansas," sends such unsound mea to the nited States Senate a Lucien Baker on the silver question, and elects such men as Peffer and Lewelling? After deliver ing itself of this supposed poser, it thea refers to Minnesota and Wiscon-sin as being full of foreigners, yet which states are for "sound money," and to North Dakota, which state elected to the United States Senate a native of upholds the single gold standard.

It all happens, Mr. Post, all comes about, through a higher average intellgence of the people of Kansas, and a correspondingly lower average of enlightenment in the other commonwealths named. Under existing conditions the people of Kansas have been forced to become "hewers of wood and drawers of water," and they not only realize their condition, but understand how it all came about. Upon the other hand, the Minnesota, Wisconsin and Dakota people are laboring under the same disadvantages, but they do not know enough to realize the whys or wherefores. However, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin did send silver men to congress, but they were all American born.

It is unfortunate for the gold bugs and bloodsuckers of New York that there is no greater degree of ignorance and blinuness in the west. The populist movement did not spring from prosperity, but from oppressive conditions, enforced by eastern greed, whose A PROMINENT PHYSICIAN. All Kinds Honse Repair Wort K. I nl Kiawjli KANSAS CITY. One of the prominent members of the medical profession in Wyandotte county is Dr. Warren Seaman. Dr. Seaman belongs to one of the old and substantia! families of Kansas City, Kansas, and he has grown up with the town. Several years' successful practice has given him a high standing as a physician.

Dr. Seaman lives at 324 Parallel avenue. He has offices in the New York Life Building at Fifth and Minnesota avenue. The Address of the Those who aro interested in the growth and development of Kansas City as a railway and commercial center have watched with much satisfaction the rapid progress made during the past twelve months in the work of buildiDg and extending the live railway system that embraces the Kansas City Suburban Belt line, the Union Terminal lines, and the Kansas City, Pittsburg Gulf railroad -a system that is already beginning to revolutionize the switching, facilities of Kansas City and thus afford surjerior in. ducements for the upbuilding of manufacturing institutions that is to open up a new country, richer in the abundance and variety of its products than any other portion of the west, and make it pay its tribute of wealth to Kansas City---a system that in addition to other things, is designed, in the near future, to annihilate time and distance between the city at the mouth of the Kaw and a new seiport on the Gulf of Mexico, and bring to it even the commerce of the seas.

The close of the year 1894 the Pittsburg Gulf completed to Siloam Springs, 231 miles south of Kansas City. The close of 1895 finds nearly 125 miles more of railroad built on the route to the gulf. Of this, 62 mile3 is the length of the extension of the main line, during the year, from Siloam Springs south to Salisaw, Ark, from whence a spur extends connecting the main line with the very important town of Fort Smith, Ark. This extension of the road from ITNE0T is THREE NOTABLE LAWYERS. Consumption Cure! The fact that the census, just out, shows Kansas to be the most "thoroughly American" and the trans-Mis-usssippi states of the highest average intelligence, ought to furnish the data for a different conclu sion than that arrived at by the Post. The United States may be plunged into a war over the far away Venezuela question, but a revolution is also im of the greatest animation. The rabbits if they do not become confused by the niose and excitement, bound away and many of them strike toe net so hard that they break their necks. These that survive the shock scamper into the pockets which are ingenuously arranged for their reception, and for them the jig is up. Rabbits sometimes die with fright, not having sufficient strength to make the race for life.

These rabbit drives are among the most popular sports in which the prairie farmers indulge, and it is customary for the organizer of the drive to provide a unteous spread for his gratuitious helpers. The three well known young men constituting the well known law firm of McGrew, Watson Watson, have much to be proud of in their work of the past year. This firm has sprung rapidly to the front as one of the strongest in the state of Kansas, and has established a large practice in the federal as well as the state courts. Henry McGrew, ex-county attorney, is the senior member of the firm, and is one of the most active at the local bar. George Watson and A.

E. Watson are young men who have won the admiration of all who know them by the splendid progress they have made in their career in the law. They possess, to a large degree, those elements of strength that most soon give them a high standing in their profession. minent. James F. Getty, the senior member, is distinguished by a thorough knowledge of law, a rapidity of mental grasp and a sharp and forcible style of oratory that is effective before a jury and very entertaining on the stump or public platform.

In politics, Getty is known as a fighter, who tells what he thinks. This quality has made him enemies among those for whose friendship he had no desire. On the other hand it has made him many firm friends among those whose friendship is valuable to any man. Frank D. Hutchings, the other member of the firm, is reserved, cautious and shrewd not disposed to mix in politics.

The distance then remaining to be covered between Shreveport and Sabine Pass on the Gulf will not be more than one fifth of the length of the entire line. According to the present rate of Erogress, the entire line ought to completed and in operation at the expiration of another eighteen months at the farthest.
