divisions with two victories and a tie apiece Greek Hazelhurst Win for Denver HOW BIG SEVEN TEAMS STAND Logan Crew Shows Drive In Conference victory By BOB HOLDEN LOGAN The Utah Aggies celebrated their first real postwar home-coming day with an overwhelming1 48-0 victory over Colorado A of Fort Collins Utah State scored after four minutes of play when Tony Sutich sent the ball through the uprights for three points Four minutes later Jay Van Noy fleet-footed halfback for the Utah Farmers intercepted a Colorado pass on his own 40-yard line raced down the field for the remaining 60 to score standing up The Aggies showed some beautiful blocking for this run of Van who also showed some clever open-field running With perfect day for a football game and some 8000 homecoming spectators present the altert Utah Farmer team was never in danger and administered the worst beating the Colorado Rams had taken at the hands of their traditional foes For some 20 years Coach (Dick) Romney's the book the twice-beaten Brigham Young university Cougars clawed their way to a well-deserved major upset in the Big Seven conference by handing Colorado university its first setback of the campaign 10-7 Saturday afternoon on the Cougar field before 4500 cheering spectators The victory came on the wings of a last-quarter field goal by sturdy Reed Nilsen Cougar center who stood on his own 26-yard line with the score tied at 7-7 and two minutes left in the game and propelled the pigskin straight through the uprights for the big gest three points of the contest Both clubs scored ir the second that the Buffs were on the march to the end-cone velvet A long pass from Lyle Kofler to Rex Olsen set the stage for Brigham touchdown the pass and run being good for 47 yards oneof the longest plays of the afternoon Don Evans of Colorado had just quick-kicked from his own 20 over Roller's head to the 25 and it was from heie that the Cougars moved 75 yards to pay dirt Olsen and Scotty Deeds Decker had brought the Cou gars from their own 20-yard stripe to the Colorado 19 In the first period BYU moved to the Colorado 16-yard line and then again in the second period they crossed the Buffalo 26 but on each occasion the hard-charging Buffs took over on fourth down Bid for Touchdown Colorado made three serious bids for a score in addition to their drive in the second canto Starting after Roller had punted to Gregory down on the Colorado 17 the Buffs sent Gregory through the line for seven yards and then Jimmv Price galloped around left end for 47 yards and a lirst down on the Cougar
