years will continue to be one of the more important enterprises of Utah farms Dee A Broadbent assistant professor of economics at Utah State Agricultural college predicted today Stating that farmers in Utah produced one and three-quarter million birds for market in 1944 Professor Broadbent estimated that two million birds will be raised during the 1945 season The rapid expansion of the turkey industry in Utah he said has 77 irl en You'll never be a hermit if you servo lation oi nigner prices in war "Through the use of better feeding methods the establishment of more and better turkey processing plants the dissemination of information regarding control of disease and improved breeding have all contributed to the growth of the industry and are favorable factors contributing to the future stability of the industry" Professor Broadbent asserted that most people think of Utah as a range livestock state but for the past decade the poultry industry has been a source of revenue for the farm family equal to any other single enterprise In 1944 he pointed out the value of the turkeys sold in Utah exceeded the cash income from lambs hogs or eggs and brought one-third as much cash to the farmer as all harvested crops sold from Utah farms The 30 million pounds of turkey produced in Utah during the past year would provide almost 50 pounds per capita for Utah's population and approximately three pounds of turkey for every man in the armed forces of the nation Efficient turkey producers can be optimistic about the future of the turkey industry because the highly commercialized type of enterprise based on local resources should be able to compete in the post-war period he said In Utah turkey production fits well into the small farm set-up where there is normally a surplus of labor Professor Broadbent warned that one of the greatest perils of prosperity for turkey producers and othev farmers is the tendency to confuse "war inflation income with efficient management Inefficient operators have not been weeded out and there is a growing assumption that high prices wi continue he said Adjustments will come and must be faced However there will be a place for the turkey industry in the post-war era of agriculture KIDNEYS MUST REMOVE EXCESS ACIDS Help IS Miles of Kidney Tube Flush Out Poisonous Wast If you have an excess of acids in your blood
