to the damage to the Cavalier and the fire The CHP said the victim had been observed driving erratically prior to the accident Condit is a retired Modesto Police Department employee and a former Stanislaus County candidate He is the brother of former Congressman Gary Condit He suffered major injuries in the accident vehicle then veered back across the roadway into the path of a northbound 1991 GMC utility truck driven by Burl Condit 57 of Ceres who had no opportunity to evade the collision Both vehicles erupted into flames upon impact A deputy and trainee came upon the scene within moments of the 8:45 pm accident With assistance from two citizens they were able to rescue Condit from his A fiery head-on crash on Crows Landing Road claimed the life of a Newman man last Thursday evening The California Highway Patrol identified the victim as 29-year-old Charles Burton According to CHP reports Burton was driving southbound on Crows Landing road north of Zeering Road when the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier he was driving drifted onto the right should der for unknown reasons The Frank Peichoto of Red Bluff and Tony Peichoto of Newman two sisters Elsie Qualle of Hughson and Emily native and lifelong resident of the Newman area She attended Newman schools She was a homemaker who also drove a school bus for five years and worked at the Husman Hatchery for 10 years -Newman -Police Charles Burton Possession arrest Newman police said Noel Magana 25 of Gustine wasrarrested Jan 21 on charges of possession of a controlled substance Magana was the driver of a vehicle stopped for an expired registration on Patchett near Street A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a small baggy of a substance which tested positive as methamphetamine 1 DUI Newman police said two motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving last week Authorities identified those arrested as: Jose Rodriguez 2 1 of Patterson who was arrested Jan 22 on Tamarack Court near Fresno Street He was cited and released Robert Grau 46 of Newman who was arrested Jan 23 near the 1400 block of Main Street He was booked into county jail A mass of Christian burial will be held today (Thursday) for Charles Eugene Burton of Newman who died Jan 22 in a traffic accident He was 29 Mr Burton was a native of Pasadena He was raised in Castro Valley by his aunt and uncle Connie and Eifgefte Franklin and later attended Beyer High School and ITT sign violation at 1st Avenue and 4th Street The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant Quezada was found to be in possession of 101 grams of marijuana and was also taken into custody on the felony charge Narcotics arrest Gustine police said a Hayward man was arrested'Jan23 on charges of possession of marijuana for sale Police said Miguel Quezada 20 was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a stop Patricia A Wisinski Mrs Spinelli was a parishioner at St Catholic Church She enjoyed playing softball and had coached in the Newman Recreational Softball League Mrs Spinelli is survived by her husband Don Spinelli of Newman four children Donald MI Spinelli of Turlock Gene Spinelli and Gina Spinelli both of Newman and Donna Teevan of Modesto two brothers Institute in Lathrop 1 Mr Burton worked as an electronics technician He was a parishioner at St Catholic Church Newman Mr Burton is survived by his wife Rosemare Burton of Newman a son Marcus Charles Burton a daughter Alexis Marie Burton two sisters Shree Burton and Shrea Mitch Wisinski of Discovery Bay Marty Wisinski of Folsom and Ronnie Mruk and Tommy Kosalka both of Nebraska a daughter Melinda Christenson of Gustine two brothers Butch Smolnik and Ronnie Smolnik both of Nebraska and 14 grandchildren Mrs Wisinski was preceded in death by a daughter Kathy Visitation will be from 9-10 Marques Houston Omarion OTiMnaiis Services will be held Friday for Patricia Ann Wisinski of Newman who died Jan 23 She was 65 Mrs Wisinski was a native of Nebraska where she was
