stated that the KEA has repeatedly said that they had no problem collecting their own dues and that this then' could be a saving to the taxpayer The chairman of the negotiating committee Dr Peltier expressed his disappointment that "the KEA chose to criticize unjustly the assistant superintendent who released news of the KEA rejection at my Dr Peltier stated that the news of the rejection was released only after the KEA emphatically rejected the extension offer and the mediator and the two groups turned to other negotiation matters An impasse on those terms was the afternoon and the cdhtract extension offer was not mentioned again by the KEA following their rejection board has made this extension offer to protect individual teachers and to assure them their rights and benefits would continue despite the absence of a negotiated Peltier said He added that though the KEA has rejected the offer the board shall continue these benefits unless prevented from doing so by KEA action or unless there is a violation of the statutes or conditions of the expired issued by Kenosha Education Association representatives yesterday again show The need to open negotiations between the School Board and KEA to the press and the general public" according to Dr Raymond Peltier chairman of the Board negotiating team Dr Peltier pointed out that the board had made a written offer of extending the expired agreement until a new agreement can be reached The conditions listed in the offer were clearly identified as in force only until a new agreement is reached and were intended as clarification to avoid any con- troversy about the extension in the future Peltier said The extension offer did not change any insurance but indicated the board's posi-tion that in subsequent agreements any premium increases in present coverage should be shared by the teachers and taxpayers Peltier also pointed out that the extension of contract offer to the KEA did indicate that until a new agreement was made the school calendar adopted by the board would be used In reference to dues deductions which the board indicated would be suspended until a new agreement was readied P051'
