unauthorized biography The c publicity-shy singing superstar can relax a bit however — though just a bit The authors contend they’re hot Interested in Neil's personal life that the book will be a “career- based’’’ biography ""That doesn’t mean however they’re not looking for dirt — or at least intnque The writers — Alan Grossman Bill Truman and Roy Yamanaka — are soliciting input from those who were involved with Diamond's 1980 “Jazz Singer ” the movie that marked Neil’s big screen debut — and turned out to be a case study of how not to make a movie After three years of preparation — and countless script rewrites demanded by Diamond — it finally went before the cameras in January 1980 without a final script and with problems that went from bad to awful The head writer resigned performers were replaced and three months into shooting director”’ Sidney Furie was fired (and claimed he was the fall guy for making script changes ordered by Diamond) Neil was growing more and more
