LOUIS, Mo. — The Lutheran Hour will present a special Christmas broadcast this year over some 2,600 radio stations around the world. The special, which has been titled "Christmas In Norway" will be heard in a period from Dec. 20 to Dec. 30 by millions, possibly almost a billion people. In the United States and Canada alone, Christmas special will be carried by more than 900 stations which broadcast The Lutheran Hour each week, plus another 900 stations which have contracted to carry the holiday broadcast. The program will include authentic Norwegian Christmas music as well as a travelogue style commentary on Christmas traditions of Norway and interviews with three prominent Norwegians — Dr. Ragnar Frisch, a Nobel prize-winner in the field of socio -economics; Knut Nystedt, a popular Norwegian music composer, and the Rev. Fridtjov Birkeli, head of the/ihurch of Norway and Bishop of Oslo. f Dr. Oswald Hoffmann, the re-r gular Lutheran Hour speaker, will be the host. "The Christmas broadcast from Norway glorifies our Lord and Svior Jesus Christ," he said. "It is a witness to His Savior- hood and His Lordship over the world. Coming from a country like Norway, with its beautiful Christmas songs, the broadcast has a recognizably Lutheran character." The Rev. William D. Kniffel, director of international operations for The Lutheran Hour, said overseas special outlets include Radio Free Europe, Vatican Radio, Radio Luxembourgand many others. "The addition of 125 outlets in addition to our regular e .SOsoverseas Lutheran Hour station^ give us a potential listening audience of 500 million," Rev. Kniffel said. The Rev. Elmer Knoernschild, director of programming for The Lutheran Hour, said the program gives a "three dimensional" view of Christmas as "lived" in Norway. "Laced together with som favorite Norwegian Christmas carols and spiced with a fascinating' narration on Norwegian Christmas customs in the inimitable style of Dr. Hoffmann, 'Christmas In Norway,'our 1970 Christmas greeting in sound, is designed for only one purpose: to highlight for our worldwide audience the heavenly headline —'unto you is born. . . a Savior ["' Rev. Knoernschild said. Last year. The Lutheran Hour special "Christmas In Hawaii", was transmitted by nearly 2,500 stations. Other holiday specials have included Christmas in Ethiopia, Christmas in Japan, Christmas with Marian Anderson and Christmas with John Glenn. The Lutheran Hour is one of the principal projects of the Lutheran Laymen's League, an auxiliary' organization of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The League, made up of 155,000 Lutheran lay men and women, also cosponsors the television drama- series "This Is The Life." The Church of Tomorrow The annual highlight of the Rex Humbard program is his Christmas Show. This year Rex Hum bard's 1970 Christmas Program will give miHions of viewers an opportunity to meet the families and children of the Cathedral of Tomorrow staff. The program, scheduled for Sunday, December 20, will be an inspiring hour featuring Rex Humbard, pastor of the Cathedral of Tomorrow, telling the Christmas story. The staff families will be gathered in a living room background to share in the story-telling and the singing of many favorite songs of Christmas. Songs will be done by the Cathedral Choir, Maude Aimee, the Cathedral Singers and all the regular Cathedral musicians. Psalm Number 122 In Praise of Jerusalem 1 was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the Lord's housel" 2 And now we are here, standing inside the gates oi Jerusalem! 3 Jerusalem is a city restored in beautiful order and harmony! 4 This is where the tribes come, the tribes of Israel, to give thanks to the Lord, as he commanded them. 5 This is where the law courts are, where the king Judges bis people. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! "May those who love you prosper! 7 May there be peace inside your walls, and safety in your palaces." 8 For the sake of my friends and companions, I say to Jerusalem, "Peace be with youl" 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord, our God, I pray for your prosperity.
