As with practically all independent colleges, Washburn's tuition charges cover only about' half the current expenses of the school. The rest must be secured through income from endowment or by other means. There has been a considerable yearly deficit for a number years and the trustees have decided to take active and energetic measures towards securing an increased endowment which will meet the running expenses of the college, together with the income from tution and a few other sources. No action has been taken by the trustees regarding a successor to Dr. Sanders and it is likely that no one will be selected before the annua meeting next June.

The college trustees hope to secure a president who will devote the bulk of his energies for the next few years to the task of making the endowment sufficient for the imrnediaAe needs of the college.
