At least a dozen actresses of note have told me theyd do almost anything to grab that plum Big Nurse role in the film adaptation of that gripping story of life inside a mental institution.

Now. Kirk Douglas, who owns the properry, passes on the word that he feels the only two actresses who could do justice to that dramatic part are either Lee or Colleen. Kirk hasnt even decided at this point if he should cast himself in the film. He starred in Cuckoo on Broadway, but said he might stay away from the cameras and use the movie version to make his big-screen directorial debut. While Kirk is still pondering casting or.

that Cuckoo," he might be interested to know that Kim Darby would love a shot at one of the other fea tured roles in the film. Talented joung Kim has turned down four scripts the last two months, "because the properties were just no good. And Kim aching to work! There are so few fine movies being made today. She thinks Cuckoo would be the finest Steve and Nelle McQueen have hit some bumpy marital waters. Most successful of the book-to-movie authors, Irving Wallace will have another new one on the stand next March.

It is The Word (Wallace seldom writes one with a title of more than two words) to be published by Simon Schuster. Hes closed-mouth about the plot but offers this bitty scoop: Its one mans search for faith dramatized by an 'unusual happening that takes in Europe. Its suspense with everything happening in four weeks and moving from Wisconsin (Kenosha is Irvings birthplace) to New York, London and other distant centers. The misfits are the six boys of Kramer's latest movie, Bless the Beasts and the Children.

They were guests in Salt Lake of Pi Kappa Alpha members at the University of Utah. The boys are anything but the misfits they play in the film, which opens this week at the Century 21 Theater. They are well-behaved young men in real life. The only reason they have the title of misfits in the picture is that they are nonconformists. They come from wealthy families in the movie and they want to halt the wanton slaughter of buffalo by licensed killers.

Shortly after their arrival, they were correcting some impressions that have gotten around about them. Barry Robins, the handsome black-haired teen who plays Cotton in the movie, wanted it known that he does not attend Yale or Harvard, just dramatic school. I've been awarded the sweaters when I've been at seminars at Yale and Harvard and I guess that is how that story got around. he said. Barry has been in several stage roles and in TV shos, but Beasts" is his first film.

Bill Muniy, who is being seen as the boy in the Lost in Space TV series, has grown considerably since those shows were finished. He has the most credits of the group several major movies, including Rascals, and 30 TV show s. l.
