the MM The first thing we must keep in mind is that the tingling or numbness very often orginales a couple of feet distant from the fingers themselves Many a patient is puzzled when the doctor appears to show relatively little attention to the fingers but rather to the neck and shoulder region There can of course be different reasons for numbness but pressure on nerves and circulation disorders are two frequent culprits The nerves leading to hands and fingers remember orginate in the spinal cord in the region of the neck In certain cases there can be an arthritic condition a thickening of the edges of the vertebrae This obviously can narrow the space through which the nerves emerge and put pressure on them thereby causing numbness or tingling in the fingers (This sort of thing is usually seen after instead of before the age of 40 or so) When this is the cause the trouble is likely to be worse while you are lying in bed Some-imes it interferes with early morning sleep Changing the pillow or its position or changing lie position of head neck and shoulders may give temporary relief X-ray examination is very useful in detecting his condition after which improving the posture quite
