His column will appear regularly in the Forum. Dear Blaine: Ive been dating a returned missionary for the last few months. We get along very well until the subject of sex comes up. I dont know if Im ready for it.

Im only 18. Please give me some advice. Signed, Confused This December will mark the fifth anniversary of the founding of KRCL radio station. The station began operations in December of 1979 and has grown over the years to include 80 different programs per week. KRCL came into being only after several years of struggle and red tape, according a full-time staff member.

Community Radio was new to Salt Lake City and the surrounding area," said John Greene, station manager. We wanted a fcal point for community groups, ethnic groups and others to voice their opinion. Steve Holbrook, who could be called the founder of the station, patterned KRCL after the Pacifica Foundation Group of California. This group of radio stations along the Pacific Coast became the example for community, non-profit radio broadcasting all over the country, he said. Growing out of the mid-1960s in the midst -of anti-Veitnam war sentiment, these stations have come to represent a broad variety of programming, according to a staff member.

KRCL hopes to provide an alternative to commerical radio broadcasting. We try to appeal to a specific audience which is usually small but extremely loyal to their particular program," said Donna Land Maldonado, operations manager. We provide three public service announcements each hour but absolutely no commercials. The station employs four full-time people. John Greene, station manager; Donna Land Maldonado, operations manager; Maggie Laun, office manager and Lynn Van Dam, development director.

The rest of the staff, which numbers over 100, are all volunteers. Money is always a problem, said Station' Manager Greene. Since we' are a non-profit' operation all our capital must come from either listener donations, underwriters or benefit The station lets businesses like Cosmic Aeroplane Books and Records and D.B. Coopers private club sponsor a specific program. Also, a couple of times a year the station holds a pledge drive.

In October $45,000 was raised. The management tries to allow as much freedom as possible as far as programming content goes. The programmers, who are mostly volunteers, provide a wide range of programming content, from music to political issues. Every three or four months the station holds an open preinitiation for new program ideas and talent I The station provides over an hour of live programming each day. Also, a live interview on the drive time program every night at 5 p.m.

Westminster listeners might be interested in much of the program content KRCL provides. Every Saturday from 2 p.m. until 5 Teri Nell Pelly is a volunteer disc jockey at KRCL. The radio station will celebrate its fifth year of operation this month. p.m.

is Smile Jamaica: a mix of current release and roots reggae music. From 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday is the Fretn Fiddle' Show; a mix of traditional folk music from here and abroad. Taken By Force is a heavy, heavy metal program hosted by Chris Bertagnole, a student at Westminster.

This is only a small bit of KRCLs weekly programming. In the future, the stations management hopes to gain even more listeners and eventually produce their own news show. Dear Confused: I understand the problems that you are going through. Everyone goes through them. My first advice to you would be to ask your parents.

But if you feel too embarrassed to, I will let you in on some of the stuff that I have learned about the matter. Sexual feelings are entirely normal and natural! Every person who reaches the dating age feels the same way. And remember that these desires are the beginnings of Gods greatest gift to you: the ability to have children. The purpose of sex in nature is reproduction, the creation of new life. And therefore you respect this precious power that is now part of you.

Even though you know the 'facts of birth, you may be disturbed by this mysterious force called the sex-drive. A boys sex drive is different from a girls. Sex excitement does seem harder for a boy to control, partly because of the way he is made. A girl is more likely to have control because she is less easily excited. This is the reason why, in her relationship with a boy, a girl should assume responsibility for their behavior together.

Of course these are fine words and you probably agree that they are true. But what about the time when a girl is alone with someone she likes very much and one kiss leads to a warmer kiss, a more exciting kiss, and before she knows it, she is engaged in a necking session, what then? Think of it this way. Do you know how to drive a car? You turn on the ignition switch, you set the car in gear, you step on the gas and the car shoots forward. And it keeps going until you step on the brake or run out of gas; sex is very much the same way. Your sex drive is like a powerful and wonderfully constructed engine of a car; one thing leads to another, in rapid succession.

Certain parts of your body are sensitive to touch as an engine is to gasoline. But you learn to respect your body as the driver learns to respect the engine of his car. You dont set the powerful machinery of your body into motion each time you are aware of your normal sexual feelings. You learn to control your feelings and your actions. I hope that this little bit of advice will help you to make the proper choices with your boyfriend.

Im sure that if you explain this to him he will oblige to your demands.
