Election Roundup BERGENFIELD COUNCIL (Vote for Two) NEWMILFORD COUNCIL (Vote for Two) RICHARD J. BOHAN SR. Republican Many of you already know me; I am a former mayor and former four-term coun- cilman. When my wife, Grace, and I moved to Bergenfield 35 years ago, we knewwe found the perfect place to raise our three children. I have dedicated my life to this town and its people.

We are members of St. parish and I am a 31-year member of the Knights of Columbus. a former president and Dis- trict 9 governor of UNICCO. Currently, I am the president of the Garden Club. For many years, I owned a business in town, and now I am the manager of the SEE BOHAN, PAGE 30 BENEDICT L.

CABRERA Republican I am a former Marine and an 18-year Bergenfield resident. Growing up, my parents and church taughtme strongmorals, community service and work ethic. These values led me to join the Marine Corps, which instilled leader- ship, honor and teamwork. While in the service, I married my wife with whom I have two children. In the 20 years since obtainingmy engineering degree, held operations and information tech- nology leadership positions in the aerospace and pharmaceutical industries.

What drove me to run for council this year is my concern for quality SEE CABRERA, PAGE 30 CHRIS TULLY Democrat Myname is Chris Tully, and I am running for council in Bergenfield. I am a lifelong resident of Bergenfield, a graduate of Bergenfield High School and a cum laude graduate of Northeastern Uni- versity. As the son of Irish immigrants, I was raised with the strong family values and work ethic that run deep within our com- munity. I have worked on behalf of the people of New Jersey as a constituent services advo- cate with the U.S. Senate under Sen.

Frank Lautenberg and as the operations coordina- tor for the New Jersey Senate Majority SEE TULLY, PAGE 30 CARLOS AQUASVIVAS Democrat My name is Carlos Aguasvivas and I am running for Bergenfield Council. I emigrated from the Dominican Repub- lic in 1989 at the age of 15. I graduatedwith honors fromMemorialHigh School inWest New York, and was awarded the Dr. James E. Dorsey Scholarship to attend Kean Uni- versity.

I have a degree in com- puter science and a minor in mathematics. I was employed by the State of New Jer- sey as director of internal systems support at the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority. During that time, I served on the His- panic Advisory Council, relaying the com- SEE AQUASVIVAS, PAGE 30 ANN SUBRIZI Republican I hope you will re-elect me to a fourth term in office. As wemove forward, I believe one of the big issues in our town is redevelopment. We need to continue examining affordable and senior housing, and support our recreation- al areas with a balance that serves all citi- zens. At all times, we must consider the flooding impact that further development will cause.

The water company property by the high school is still beingworked on. Therewill be decisions that must be made by this council about that property that will affect the char- acter of NewMilford for decades to come. SEE SUBRIZI, PAGE 30 HOWARD BERNER Republican Checks and balances, devised by our founding fathers, are missing from the New Milford landscape. The Democratic Party has held the seat and a majority on the town council for most of the past 10 years. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, do you think the town is better off today than it was 10 years ago? I know my taxes have increased by over 90 percent since I moved to town 12 years ago, and I see a noticeable improvement.

I am a certified public accountant for nearly 20 years, employed by a real estate developer. In addition to working with our SEE BERNER, PAGE 30 FRANCES RANDI DUFFIE Democrat It has been an honor to be appointed as councilwoman, filling the seat of Council- man Joe Murray, and serving the residents over the past five months. I serve as the liaison to Health and Human Services, Rent Association and the Senior Advisory Board. It would be a privilege to be elected and continue to serve NewMilford. I am a 33-year resident of our communi- ty, and passionate about the quality of life issues that we all share: strong programs for seniors and children, enhancements to parks and playgrounds, effective municipal and emergency services, a clean environ- SEE DUFFIE, PAGE 30 IRA S.

GROTSKY Democrat I have been a resident ofNewMilford for 30 years. My wife of 28 years, Janet, has been a resident since the age of and her mother continues to reside in the borough. We have raised two grown twin children, David and Rachel. I have always felt a strong connection with our community andwould like to con- tinue giving back to New Milford by being elected and serving the residents of New Milford as councilman. I am currently the vice chairman of the ZoningBoard of Adjustments and have pre- viously served as an assistant Little League manager and treasurer of the New Milford SEE GROTSKY, PAGE 30 2 9 ,2 0 0 8 IN -B 2 8.
